Been doing Shotokan Karate (now a 2nd Kyu (brown belt)) and took boxing (am so fanatic w/ Muhammad Ali's boxing style)
and now MMA (am lovin it) (though ive been told there to take up BJJ class to improve ground game, am planning so soon in summer time)

Yeah you need to do No gi grappling and Gi grappling to become a better fighter. Also you should try and get some type of training from Wrestling and Judo to compliment your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Also even though i'm a blue belt in BJJ, you can also use other grappling arts like Catch as Catch wrestling (Josh Barnett, Kasushi Sakuraba, Shayna Bazller) or Sambo (Fedor Emilienenko).

Im also taught grappling basics like take down and the defense as well as position switching but ya not enough from there XP
and thx for advice dude XD but i wonder where can i find sum wrestling or sambo club in Jakarta, Indonesia ? ???

Took Shitō-ryū Karate when i was smaller. Started Chinese Kenpo in high school, began learning basic taekwondo from a guy who taught it his whole life. This man introduced me to the concepts of mma also. Started taking muay thai and brazillian jiu-jitsu. I have competed in karate tournaments and had amateur fights in mma . Hoping to have more. As of now i am currently a freshman in college and out of shape and practice. Which is disappointing considering how much i used to train. But i plan to return to it at the start of summer! Summer is almost here im excited!

I did alot of different types from Karate to MMA.I do have a black belt.I took amatuer kick boxing classes.Kickboxed a few times
in practice and for keeps preUFC tryouts.Basicly fight to prove if I was good enough for the sponser to sponser me.I quit do to
time effort and life.I use my own style 50 fist style a mix of boxing and judo.A Mentor of mine from the Christian ministry is a
famous Grandmaster of Judo>>Kano, He was in the men of integrity.A Christian monthly insperational booklet. He's big on
Willpower.I believe he used to say He had the will to seek gods will. The will to do gods will and the will to go trough with gods will!
Very cool Sensi and Spiritual Father TY Jesus for his role in my life!I still love fighting!I do fight with ppl in the correct place.
No street fighting for me.I'll take a challange into a Dojo or a Ring.My Fists are fast my moves swift and my Kendo is far from
amatuer."Did you know I'm a scar covered idiot~"

I used to do Karate for a few years when I was younger. It was great.
I stopped ages ago though, and I lost most of my flexibility :(
Which limits most powermoves you can learn before you regain flexibility.

i also took up aikido with my friend, for the lulz, at my school, it was so boring. Aikido is less agressive even compared to Tai chi.

It is never too late to begin~!
Just start if it interests you. It only gets harder the longer you wait. :)
Convince some friends to join with you too, it'll make it easier.

Spar me when you get your black belt

It's great that MMA is creating a renewed interest in martial arts. Your experience will often depend as much on the gym/trainer/teacher you use as the discipline you choose. I was lucky enough to begin and have the majority of my martial arts under an amazing teacher of Shoalin Kenpo Karate named Rick Alemany who helped me stay humble as I gained what little strength I could. I was a tiny, tiny kid and mixed race so I learned martial arts out of self preservation. It became a big part of who I am though and I turned out to be a reasonably large guy, yay white genes kicking in. I've taken many martial arts, several seriously and think Judo is probably the most effective in terms of the likelihood of completing a technique successfully once you attempt it. If anybody wants to begin martial arts I'd encourage you to find out as much about the teacher as the discipline before beginning, and you're never too old to start something, especially something that will make you healthier.

I hope everyone remembers that strength exists not to impose your will upon other people, but to prevent yourself and others from having that done to them.
