The following is the foreword to, and complete text of, the Vance Publications reprint of John T. Flynn’s The Truth About Pearl Harbor and The Final Secret of Pearl Harbor, both available together for the first time here, http://www.franciswayland.org/classic_reprints.htm as John T. Flynn on Roosevelt and Pearl Harbor.

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan." ~ Franklin Roosevelt

The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was what actively and officially put the United States into the Second World War. Without war against Japan, any conflict with Germany could conceivably have been limited to naval engagements. But was the sudden attack a surprise to Roosevelt? Was the deliberate attack "utterly unprovoked" like Secretary of State Cordell Hull said it was?

I have read a few sources stating Pearl Harbor was a provoked attack. I didnt go ino further research but thanks for the info I always thought it was strange to just get attacked out of no where.

This reminds me of first world war. US entered after their passenger ship was sunk by german submarine. Why do everybody forget that they were using that same ship, and others, for illegal weapon trade with Great Britain? I mean, that war was war of resources, so germans were expected to sit quietly while and watch their enemy getting outside help, despite the sanctions?
