Quite different then my usual :3

Story By KOKOCHAN =3 <3 Wee!

Note: There are religious views and or beliefs in this story. Mostly obsessive with God xD

Prologue — A New Journey!

Grace took one last look at the village she was leaving behind, she'd grown fond of it, the children there absolutely love her, but her services there with Father were no longer needed.

She'd tended to each boy and girl, made believers out of them, and even recited Bible phrases to keep the children on the right path. With God on their side, fortune would smile upon them and they would live long and well. Every Sunday was the same routine for this Songstress of the Church, and she loved it with her heart. She gave prayers, sang beautiful songs to ease the soul.

All her life she'd worshiped God and dedicated her life to him. All his teaching embedded in her mind. The Priest which also, Her Father, lead her on this faithed path.

Yes, from the very second she opened her eyes to this world, she was a dedicated follower of God in every way. Not a Nun, but a Songstress of the Church.

Walking along the rushing river and through the forest, Grace found herself more at peace then ever. Such beautiful things in the forest. She smiled, sighed with a peaceful breath, and looked at Father. He walked side by her, smiling at his daughter. They're services were needed in the Big City, neither have ever explored there, but there was a Cathedral that was hiring a Priest and Songstress.

A family had requested this. Everywhere they shined their holy light, gave people harmony, gave them a reason to be proud of God. The folks in the Big City needed guidance, and Grace was happy to accommodate them. Grace slowed her pace, looking to her left and up. A tweeting pair of birds on a high perch seemed to have been talking to one another, she believed all the creatures in the forest held their very own language.

Grace picked up her pace, seeing Father motioning her not to fall behind, she looked down to the ground, it was bountiful and rich. Greens everywhere. They couldn't of picked a more gorgeous day to begin their new journey God had in store for them in the Big City.

A blow of wind made Grace close her eyes and tuck the strands of curls behind her ears, she had beautiful blonde hair, up in a bun, with fairly long ribbons attached as the hair tie, they hung down almost to her feet. Her dress however, was a pure white church one. She wore adventure shoes for this walk through the forest, her Father had sent over her other wears. They mostly consisted of cute girly, but church like things.

Grace had kept walking along until she saw Father's shoes make a stop, he pointed, up ahead at the Cathedral in the distance.

“Look, Grace. We're almost there. God had lead us on the right path once again.” Fathers voice was like a preach, everyone listened. He wore usual Priest attire, He is very well known for his status, he's a humble and giving man with incredible moxie.

“Yes, Father.” She bowed her head, one palm layed on her dress, and the other palm on top. She was also taught in the fundamentals of good manners and behavior, but she was no pushover, and spoke her mind once provoked. -Though she needed not to, everyone loved her- Grace knew how to fend for herself, sometimes she cared for others more than herself, she was mature for her age; had many talents.

Sometimes...she envied and even resented those care-free souls in the Big City. But she made sure not to let that thought slip onto her tongue. She LOVED her duty, but deep down inside, she wanted to be like any other girl. What will this City bring in store for her?

* * * Chapter 1 : The Family * * *

When they reached the huge gate with a holy marking on it, a family of three met them and welcomed them in.
Grace looked around, awed. Houses. So many of them. Cats grooming, dogs barking and catching Frisbee, little boys and girls running around the houses, playing a game of Tag.

There was a bell tower, the Cathedral just beyond the fountain in the center, benches around the fountain with couples tossing coins in it, must have been a wishing fountain. Grace had never seen one in person. She wanted to try it out, once she had the time.

The Priests' voice was polite, “Good afternoon children, how are you on this glorious day?” The family bowed their heads and smiled brightly, insinuating they were just fine. There was a Mom, Dad, and a Daughter between her parents, she seemed not to be able to keep still, she ran up to Grace and took her hands in hers, jumpy with joy. “Songstress, Songstress! Will you sing for me?” She was a cute little one, purple pig-tails, and a cute little blouse with a floral design on it.

Graces' green eyes shined, anyone could tell by her clothes that she was a Songstress.
The Father of the girl set a hand on the girls head and messed around with her hair, putting a pout on the girls face. “Now, now Ayu. The Songstress is new to the City, she'll need to be shown around today. And so will the Father. I'll be glad to be your escort for the day.”

The Dad looked at the Father and then Grace, waiting for an answer.
They nodded a second later.

Ayu nodded, and Grace swore she had seen a halo floating on top of the girls head. “Okay…” She mumbled cutely, running away to the group of children who were playing tag. She was a spirited one. The Dad looked down for a second, and back at his Wife. “Our deepest apologies, we have another member of our family. A son. He's always sleeping in after noon...” He couldn't help but to wonder if this would put frowns on their faces. Grace knew sleeping in late would ruin sleep patterns, and effect your health. She was so used to waking up early.

Her first impression even without seeing this Son, was he would most likely be a rebel and one of those "Non-believers." The Dad had looked up at the Priest and Songstress, his face softening. He sighed in relief. They looked understanding.

“That's quite alright, I-” Father's words were met half-way when everyone heard a door open and a male walk threw. Bed hair. The first thing Grace noticed was his bed hair.

His blue hair brushed down and spiked strands of hair sticking out at the sides. His eyes were tired looking, yet they gave appeal to Grace.

Grace looked away when his eyes almost met hers, she was staring too much for her own good... The only men in her life would be her Father and God, no matter how good this person looked.

The Son, with a longlooking stare at the Songstress, his face turned bitter. Scowl-bitter. Just by her posture, figure, clothing, he knew she was "one of them." Well-mannered, spoke only in Gods' voice, had no opinion of her own.

Grace almost winced, honestly, she was baffled and confused. No one had ever given her that facial expression... always smiles she'd receive, always. Up until now.

* * * Chapter 2 : The Tour of the City * * *

Grace had turned her attention to the group of children playing tag, they’re laughs and screams of elation made her almost forget that horrible look. Almost. The son had rustled his hands threw his un-combed hair, saying, “I’m going back to bed,” And he did just that, -with a slam of the door- Grace looked at his Mother and Father, wondering what they were thinking. Maybe they were used to this type of behavior from him?

There was awkward silence among them, like everyone was wondering what to say next. Until the Mother said with a bow of her head, “Were sorry… he’s beyond our control at that age...” Her head kept down. Knowing Father, he would, without a doubt help out any family in need. “That’s alright. I’m sure if the problem persists greater, I will be able to help you.”

The Wife said her thanks and made her leave, heading back inside her house. The sun began to slowly set over the horizon, if Grace wanted that tour, they'll have to do it before dusk. “Alright then, shall we start the tour?”

The Husband lead them to the Inn just across his home, “This here is the Inn. Travelers and such come here to rest. They have a delicacy here, feel free to try it in your spare time.” He turned, and lead elsewhere. To a row of shops near a big green tree.

“The shops here have everything you'll need, in theory, many other Travelers who pass the forest and come here open their own, it can consist of selling or buying weapons. Or your casual clothing.”

He waved a hand at an old man who was just ready to close his shop, “Him there, owns the General Store. There are many other youths around the City who do that, too.” With a smile at the old man, the Husband proceeded north, and pointed up ahead, on top of a Hill- “There is the School. Children here attend, my daughter does as well. In such a City as this, learning comes easy.”

Grace nodded, the last time she was in school was around kindergarten...

And so on her Father taught her everything she needed to know. The Husband proceeded walking fast as Grace watched the Sun depart, a few shades here and there now.

There seemed to have been places of no importance that he skipped to introducing... They explored south, west, east, north, and by then it was nightfall.

“So, as I was saying. On festival days entertainers come around all over the world and it's just an endless day of what you may call Fun. Many new shops are opened, we have many games around that time, too. I'll let you know the Festival days a later time.” He noted, turned around to face the two of us. He looked exhausted.

Father looked grateful for his contribution, Grace had been wondering her eyes ever since, she saw the Docks in the far distance...she wondered if fishing was part of the festivals held here. “I am sorry...there is a lot more ground I'd like to cover, but I'm tired and need sleep.”

The moon was out by then, on-lookers heading back inside their homes, children running close to their bedtime. The cats and dogs sleeping on top of roofs, under trees. Lights inside houses and shops flickering off. This was so different then a Village... Grace liked it.

Lastly, the last stop had been the Cathedral. The Priest and her were lead passed the Wishing Fountain, there were still some residents tossing coins in them, there seemed to have been a good number of coins in the water. As she passed, she could still here the splashes of coins being tossed in. And then there it stood, the City Cathedral, rising tall and majestic. There were small fences surrounding the perimeter of the Cathedral. The Husband explained it had been a place of worship for over 40 years.

Grace was excited to see the interior of it. “Good-night to you two. Everyone looks forward to your stay here in the Big City!” The Husband then bowed, and left. Grace opened the tall polished door and walked in. The first thing Grace had noticed was the golden look of the place, and the altar up ahead.

The main altar occupied a unique and central place in the sanctuary. In keeping with tradition, the altar is built of natural stone. It is erected on steps, which for symbolical reasons are usually of an uneven number - in this case, three, thus placing it on a higher level where it can be seen simultaneously by all the faithful in the body of the church.

Sealed within the altar are pieces of the rock of Calvary. A silver Crucifix on a narrow pedestal is placed near the altar.

The outstanding stained glass windows sparked Graces' interest as well.
Father had been informed before coming inside where the rooms were located, he lead Grace to hers first, and went to his room next which was just a door from her.

Inside, she found an extraordinary looking closet, she was told by Father that he had sent over her belongings when they were still in the forest. She smiled and scanned the wardrobe as she saw her sleep wear in a neat row of other clothes on hangers.

She slipped into her sleepwear and walked over to the big Princess like bed, within seconds of feeling its soft-ness, she fell asleep right away.

The Big City... yes, it seemed promising.

* * * Chapter 3 : The Song from her Heart * * *

Grace woke up somehow, on the other side of the bed. The spot where your supposed to lay your feet... this was so un-normal of her. Huh...strange. What does this mean? She looked out the window and the sun shown in her eyes, she shielded her eyes with a hand, put on her Songstress outfit and arrived to the altar. She smiled around, eyes sparkling and face lighting up. I want to sing. She put her hands up to her chest as if about to pray.

She closed her eyes, took in one deep breath, and began a song.

Her voice carried throughout possibly the whole City, it was so pure and she practiced it for years, this would be the first time she'd sang it.

In one of the houses, a boy ran up to his Mother and Fathers' bedside, “Mother!Father! Wake up! It's the Songstress singing for us!” The boy's fists were up to his chest and he ran next door to wake up his younger brother, they both ran out the house and headed for the Cathedral.

Ayu had turned to the side, thumb in mouth as a childish habit. She heard singing in her head...she thought it was a dream, but when she woke up the singing continued! She jumped out of bed and woke up everyone in the house. It's that Songstress! What a beautiful voice!

Soon, everyone in the City were out of their houses and wide awake. All awed and mouths hanging open in front of the Cathedral. When Ayu tried pushing the door open, it was too big for her small hands. A few parents helped her out and then, it opened.

Graces' green eyes stayed closed still, but everyone could notice the smile on her face widening. Everyone came gathering inside and some applauded even though she wasn't quite done with her song.

It was one of the Japanese songs Father had taught her.

Everyone took seats in the chairs on both sides of the Cathedral. No one bothered even noticing the pamphlets attached to the chairs. The Songstress' voice lolled them into a peaceful trance.

The spotlight was on Grace and her alone. She was used to it, she moved her body a bit when the singing began to take on high-notes.

The Father was so proud. He stood next to her in moments and closed his eyes to fully enjoy the song travel through him. The song spoke to the heart and the soul; truly a song for God to hear one of his children sing.

The whole City was practically listening outside, because there had been too many people already seated, some standing as well. They were okay with standing outside, it was a sunny day so everyone was alright with hearing it from the outside.

Except one person, he stayed in bed and cursed constantly.

Ughhh! Ever since that Songstress came this place just got all the more noisy-! He picked up two of his pillows and shoved them against his ears, groaning. No use, he could still hear the song that carried everywhere... His blanket fell off his bed, and he found himself all alone at home. No breakfast? He groaned again, not even dressed and in the same clothes as he had yesterday, he marched to the Cathedral to see crowds silent and in peace in front of the Cathedral.

When he passed the Wishing Fountain to get to the Cathedral, there were people listening there too! Like they never heard a song before in they're life. He shoved his way threw violently and wanted to see what the big deal was inside.

Once inside it, one would be overcome at once by a deep sense of peace and calm. But Aran wasn't. It was quite the opposite. Despite the fact he was in Gods eyes now, in Gods sanctuary, he shouted anyways; “Aye! Songstress! Would you SHUT UP!? I was having a nice sleep until YOUR singing woke me up!”

Everyone's jaws dropped, they gasped and all eyes were on Aran. Graces' body took a hit, her leg took a step backwards, shocked and scared.

Moreee Laterrr~
