Cowboy Bebop, I loved Julia.

Sorry dudez. Doesn't matter what category. If the word "best" is in it. It'll either be Bebop or Neon Genesis.

In this case Bebop...

Damn are you retarded are are you so ignorant that you can't realize flaws within your statement. Do you realize that there was no actual romantic growth in the series. You can't say that 2 episodes and a explained past can compare to full seasons of it. What am I saying 2 episodes... more like 1.1 since she dies in the begining of it. That was great emotional development there. Just because you heard of a few good anime titles doesn't mean you have a clue what is going on. Damn honestly. Its almost as if EVA and cowboy Bebop are the ONLY series he has ever seen before. When it comes to romance. Bebop can NEVER win simply because it's episodic. There can be no development between the characters romantically the same way a regular romance would especially when one of the characters IS ONLY SEEN IN 1.1 EPISODES.

T_T, I just really liked Julia. You don't have to be so hurtful! *runs away crying*

God lord how are you guys forgetting Ai Yori, Please Teacher, Love Hina, and Chobits?

How can you talk about romantic anime and leave them out?

I was completely aware of them but I was looking at the BEST romance series of all time. I felt that Ai Yori Aoshi, Love hina, etc. didnt realy bring anything that unique or special. I don't necessarily mean anything new. For example, the way Full Metal Panic was set up makes it possible for this anime to last forever without needing any mysteries to be solved. Inuyasha lasted LONG and is still going but you really need a conclusion to something like that. Fate/Stay Night had one of the most endearing heroines of all time. The relationship between the characters and the ending combined made a great romance. KGNE was extrememly dramatic and the plot twists are played out well unlike a cliched soap opera.

OK I get it. You dont mean whats the best romantic anime. You mean whats the best anime that has a little bit of semi-romance sprinkled in.

Personally, I dont like animes that have the cliched fighting robots/magic etc. The majority of you guys are still kids so I guess thats what your into. So this is just a case of "You like something different than me"

Anyway, hands down the best romantic animes are in the shoujo department. What your looking for is the best "action" anime that has a romance side story.

OH of course because Thres absolutely nothing fiction about falling in love with an alien. OH yeah and persocons too I see those everywhere. The fact of the matter is that if you were gonna try shoujo then the examples fall down horribly. The seem to predictable. If you really want a real good romance from the shoujo department even Fushigi yuugi which is a shoujo and a shounen at the same time or a strict non shouenen no action shoujo like his or her circumstances, or maria-sama ga miteru. The examples you gave without the aliens and persocons are just somple romance slightly better than High School Musical. The fact that there are action on the side just simply complicates things. If I really had to choose the top 10 best of romances their would probably be about 4 and yes Love Hina would be up there but only the christmas special. Even the Inuyasha 2nd movie would be better on there. Besides FMPs romance is NOT just something added on the side. The whole story focuses around Souske being a fish out of water in an average high school and Kaname's ability to cause some order within the chaos of souskes actions. A person who can change another. The best shoujo titles arent even the best romances even though they all have romances. Even X tv which is NOT SHOUNEN BUT SHOUJO ONLY was better example than chobits. Everyone has seen a guy living with a bunch of girls and falling in love with one. Its all been done before. Romeo And Juliet was known as one of the best romances because of the complications between the family which obviously brought along fighting. Fate Stay Night was not the best anime with Romance on the side. If that were what we were asking then yes Cowboy Bebop. We're not. Samurai X:Trust and Betrayal another great example of a shounen with a way better romance story. The action was simply short and the main story of that was that Kenshin had killed the loved one of the one he loves and then taught her how to love again. There is nothing new brought to the table when you have a simple funny romace story. The fact that there are several girls in some just means its even more complicated to develop a single relationship with one character. Please Teacher was a good romance and new but the character relationship development still falls in comparison to the many otheres mentioned.

You have a serious temperament problem. I got half way through your post and lost interest. I stand behind my last statement 100%. I summed up what you were looking for nicely.

i think the best would have to be sailor moon. usagi and mamoru make such a great couple and were even together in past lives. fushigi yuugi is also a good one. i also think lacus and kira make a good couple from gundam seed and gundam seed destiny but their relationship is not very focused upon. a few more are sakura and syaoran from cardcaptor sakura and tsubasa (extremely cute couple) and momoko and yosuke from wedding peach.
