Star Wars The Old Republic (mmorpg, not the regular rpg)

What are your thoughts on this upcoming game of next year? (i think next year lol)

Think it's just another overly hyped game?

A game that shouldn't have a monthly fee?

Going to be an epic game?

NOTE: not needed to read the rest, just me ranting of of trials and of times when i was young

-----My Thoughts-----

I played mmorpg's before, my first was Star Wars Galaxies before what it is today (pre-cu and nge), which is the only mmorpg that has ever really satisfied me. Had alot of choice's, could pick two class tree's, join empire or republic or neither, was two games in one for the space travel and fighting, for the space flight (if got into the fighting) you could be a privateer, empire or republic, then get a skill tree for that, could earn badges which lead to earning the ability to become a jedi.... i could go on forever

But that changed one day, it switched to the norm of mmorpg, no thanks to WoW, so i switched to WoW, it became repetitive really quick, hit 63 or 64, then dropped the game, no point to it really, only good part of the game was the vast communities on servers, i would say pvp too but the twinks got annoying, took the fun out of it
I think the community is what draws ppl to the game, rather then the game itself for some

Next I played Lord of the Rings online for a bit, dropped that WAY fast, soo boring, graphics were beautiful tho

Then came Champions Online, was drawn to it by customization and travel powers
what made me stop playing is that it wasnt completely open world and inclosed
which made the community more focused into guilds thro websites rather then chance meetings ingame
and the balance of the powers and ability to do anything pretty much solo, separated ppl even more
pvp was pointless since it was balanced, it was just a battle of who can endure hitting the same power over and over

Tried Eve Online, the gameplay wasnt for me, it was like a RTS but for one spaceship, good game but not for me

----Conclusion----
I have my hopes up but I shouldn't, i love bioware games but i want something that doesnt exist just yet
i pray that it gives me as much joy as Star Wars Galaxies once did, thats when my life was a character in a game
i admit that when i played that, i was in a alliance guild which also focused on piloting too, my main house was on Lok, has a cheap small house near Mos Eisley, regularly bought costumes from a tailor, even had some custom orders, had a space yacht (vet reward), and a y-wing, it sucked but was fun to fly ...and even a wife, lol, had a guild wedding and party, i miss tho days

Altho if Sims 3 was onine, i probably wouldn't be here, imagine if your neighbor was a real person rather then some easily manipulated drone AI
(im not saying that i dont have a real life, its just in games, you can do what cant do in real life, no respawn, reset, or save here lol)

Bioware has yet to fail. KoTor, NwN, BG, Dragon Age, etc. Not a single fail. If they can live up to 1/10th of the hype it will be as good as WoW. That's 1/10th.

I recommend trying DDO (D&D online). It's free now with optional subscription. Free play give you quite abit. Great combat (plays like a hack and slash), in general good people, and awesome dungeons.

I tried D&D Online a couple of days ago, but you can only get to Rank 10 if you're a free player. I think I'll stick to Runescape!

Anyway, can't wait for this game. I signed up for the newsletter when the game was really, really early in development (fall 2008, early 2009???).

It is hard to say ...... followed it! Like Star Wars ...............

....really like playing priest or mage characters or priest/mage combined characters. All ranged characters seem to have guns. Don't like guns. Consular sounded right but then it started to speak of lots of melee skills and use the weird saber that's not like the saber jedi use. Don't like that. It would have been fun to play a force using priest/mage sort of character.

Don't think there is anything for someone with these interests in TOR. A friend was really excited for this and spoke so highly of it. Not sure that it could ever be enjoyable for someone with tastes like these though.
