You missed my point.

I openly acknowledge that I'm no "skilled" driver. Merely pointing out that enough "casual" track driving will help one exceed the levels of the vast majority out there, yet not even remotely approaching the levels attained by those who make it a profession or serious hobby. I also made the point that mashing the gas is the easiest part.

Or did you need to make some sort of point about your chosen career path that has taken you down that road. Good for you.

And the other point being that being a good driver does not mean being a skilled driver which is something we both agree on.

That is absolutely true. In fact, most people who drive slower than you are idiots and most people who drive faster are maniacs. That's just the mentality.

But again, most people who think are above average in skill haven't made any effort to actually improve (the gas pedal doesn't count). And even great levels of skill don't necessarily equate to a "good" driver in every day traffic.

So do I think I'm a "good" driver? I'd say "above average."

i'm not terrible. no tickets or accidents, but I have been honked at

as far as performance driving goes, I'd like to think I'm better than the average driver that isn't really into racing (plus I know manual and have practiced driving with a car with zero power/electronic assists). I have knowledge of techniques/racing, but not really any practice to back it up.

Once I start driving, I hope to be I'll have to keep my temper under control with arrogant or stupid drivers though. I don't have time to yell at people to tell them to go back to driver's ed and stay off the streets

Majority of the toyota drivers whom i encounter on my daily commute, are asians. They hold the left lane up and are indecisive when it comes to making lane changes.

I don't mean to reinforce the stereotype, but I'm going to be honest, it happens...

That's why I kick the clutch, rev engine to get slow drivers out of way (or downshift to lower gear). If that doesn't work, I just downshift and overtake

I've never been behind a wheel, but in my dreams I have and I am an awesome driver. That counts somehow, right?

haha...At least you agree. Yeah it does happen. i dont want to enforce the stereotype, but its so true. the moment i come up behind a slow toyota, i automatically know the driver is asian. lol.

I drove my Dad's Subaru Impreza WTI SXI 80mph on the motorway without dying. I think? I had to take it for an MOT when he was in work.

I've been driving for 2 years and been nothing but safe.

Correction, it's WRX STI. You mixed up the T and X

Anyways, you are very fortunate to drive a Subaru STI! I have yet to drive one despite being such a huge Subaru fan!
