It was a great movie though,
some people compares it to Disney Pocahontas.
Check this out:

While that is true I think it more so just went along with the whole story of imperialism which applied in both cases. Disney didn't make that up by any stretch (except the romance between john smith and pocahontas but that's another story).
But I don't think this is a problem. These days there will be nothing that is 100% entirely new and I think James Cameron salvaged it by adding a lot of very interesting details to his story, IE: the actual physical connection with nature, the rebirth through Eywa, etc

It's funny because it's true. I was shocked (and disappointed) when the trailers came out and everyone around me was so excited to watch it, expecting it to be fantastic. I mean, even from the trailers it was clear that it's freaking modern Pocahontas except it has much better effects and lots more blue.

Geez... does everyone have to talk about the pocahontas-thing...
I mean... even pocahontas wasn't the first to have this type of storyline...

It's been done A LOT, So what, get over it, and talk about Avatar here...
