Case # 17

Entry 00

It all started with a suicide last year. Akahari Haya was such a trouble maker-- some even suspected that she was involved in gangs outside of school. With the way she dressed and talked, it was hard too not believe the rumors. But she had the most peculiar best friend. Chosokabe Miyan is that girl with glasses in the corner who never wears her skirt above the knees. It was like they were from different regions of the world-- polar opposites. But nevertheless, they were the absolute best of friends.

Haya had a temper. Everyone knew that. She tended to lash out less often to Miyan, but there were mean times between them. In the end, Miyan refused to turn Haya away. That's what made her special around the school. The kind, loving girl who accepted all kinds of people with the same smile.

It was clear that no one liked Haya. When she committed suicide late last year, everyone was appalled by her last letter. It simply read, Chosokabe is the devil.

Of course, no one believed it. Miyan was in tears for a month over her dear friend, completely rejecting the reality of the letter. Everyone pushed it aside, comforting the girl through the hard times. And soon, Akahari Haya had disappeared like a bad dream.

I never thought much about the suicide. I thought it was simply the 'not going down alone' ploy. That is, until this year...

Miyan quickly moved on. Her newest friend was a newly enrolled student to the school. They'd been getting along just like Miyan and Haya had last year... maybe even better. It was just another happy ending. Until I got a letter from the friend.

Please Help Me. Chosokabe Is The Devil. I Have To Escape.

And then she was gone. Some say she transfered. I don't know for sure, but I think... that something interesting is happening with Chosokabe Miyan.

Part Twoooooo~

xxx

"Tsuchiya! Oi, you idiot! Wake up-- you missed the bell again!"

A rather annoyed student glared at his desk, which was occupied by another guy-- someone with messy blonde hair sleeping face down on his desk. The student's eye twitched, loathing the possibility that the other guy could possibly be drooling on his desk. HIS desk. The moment grew awkward as he noticed the entire class turn in their seats and stare at them. "Tsuchiya! You little--"

The blonde let out a startled yell as he suddenly found himself dragged to an upright position in his chair. He shook his head with a disoriented groan as a slow hand made its way to the red notebook on the desk and pulled it onto his lap. "Uh... hey... Komura?" The student, Tsuchiya, laughed nervously as he glanced up at the other student while rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "... did I miss the bell again...?"

"Damn straight-- now get the hell out before the teacher comes back in from his coffee break. Roshiro-sensei's already going to give you hell. He's pretty pissed today." The other student, Komura Heido, grumbled as he hauled the other boy to his feet and shoved him out the door with his red notebook.

As Tsuchiya stumbled to a stop outside, he couldn't help but hear the giggles coming from behind him. But they didn't bother him. So what if he needed more sleep than other people? He couldn't help it. He yawned loudly, stretching his arms high over his head while still clutching his notebook. He paused, letting them fall back to his side. "That's right. Class time...."

He absentmindedly began to his next class, but the walk was going to be a long one... it was on the other side of the campus. "Might as well... " He muttered as he flipped open his notebook and took out a pen from his pocket. As he walked, he began to write.

Case #17
Entry 01

I slept through class again. Komura had to wake me up. He acts annoyed... but I know that he's used to it. After being friends for however many years... oh, and I guess I missed my chance to talk to Chosokabe during passing period. I guess I'll try tomorrow. I wouldn't dare try her at lunch-- she's surrounded by her 'friends'. Maybe... an easy way to approach her is to become her friend?

"Ah... did you miss the bell, too, Tsuchiya?"

.... speak of the Devil.

Tsuchiya quickly shut his notebook and tucked it under his arm as a certain Chosokabe Miyan came jogging up from behind him. "Chosokabe-san..." He muttered, flashing a small smile to the girl. She was quite small compared to him... it felt odd looking down at someone. Tsuchiya wasn't exactly the tallest guy in school.

"Haha, that's me~ I got caught up in the gym trying to find my locker.... they all look the same, you know?" Miyan giggled as they walked. "So why is Tsuchiya-kun late?"

"... fell asleep." Tsuchiya replied quietly. Like she didn't know that. Anyone who listened to gossip would hear about that kid-- always sleeping and watching people.

"Oh... well, that's not good at all, Tsuchiya-kun! By the way... you're friends with Katsura-san, right? Yuu Katsura?" Miyan asked, looking up at him with those strange lavender eyes. They told Tsuchiya that she already knew the answer.

"Um... yeah. Katsura-chan. Komura's girlfriend. An old friend of mine, too..." Tsuchiya replied, but before he got to ask why, Miyan started again.

"Well, could you introduce me to her some time? She looks like a very nice person, and I'd love to be her friend! Please, Tsuchiya-kun?"

"... uh... sure."

Katsura-chan... this... could be useful.
