Japanese really do not celebrate Christmas so it makes sense that it would be the New Years week as that is a very big holiday for them. Give the overworked and underpaid, starving anime artists a weeks break without all the complaints :p

Also, FYI--
Book of Bantorra is being simulcast this week, but this week's episode is a recap episode of what happened in the previous 13 episodes.
This week's Sasameki Koto episode is the final one of this series.
I would not be surprised if this week's Yumeiro Patisserie episode is also a recap episode as well.

my favorite 2 series have just ended (sasameki koto and erin)
and my 3rd and 4th are on a one week break (letter bee and fairy tail)
any word on any new series being picked up something epic-ish kinda like erin or twelve kingdoms or seirei no moribito (or what will be airing in japan for the winter season at least?)
