Men who dress in traditional women's clothing are seen as fetishers or homosexuals, as they don't have to use some of it. Guys don't have to wear bikini tops or example. It doesn't help during Gay Pride Day that men go parading around in women's underwear at the Gay Pride Parade. Though High Heels are coming into style or men in areas like New York and San Francisco.

Women who dress up in men's clothing are perceived as cute and rugged. Though they should at least wear make up if they don't want to be accused of dressing to attract women.

I dress and look like a guy, I go into the toilets and people look at me weird because they think I've gone into the wrong toilets
It's kinda awkward ...

Hehe, I've hardly ever dressed girly in my life too... Whenever there are formal things I have to go to I HATE looking for clothes because I find them all too girly or just frumpy >.> Im not at the point of being mistaken in the toilets though :S When I was younger I used to wear a lot of boys clothes since I found them comfy and I wasn't bothered about my appearance...

I think people should be able to dress how they like but I think guys in girls clothes is very different from girls in guys clothes because: girls clothes are fitted for girls so wouldn't fit men properly, mens clothes are fitted for men but can fit girls due to the shape. Some shops just sell unisex tops and fitted womens rather than just mens and womens since they know mens clothes may be more of the shape of what some women would want to wear... I don't think its right that girls can wear mens clothes and men cant wear womens but due to things like design and shape its easier for women to be in mens clothes than the other way around...

Honestly people. What about the femininely shaped guys who can be mistaken for girls regardless of what they wear? Would they still look 'ick' in a skirt?

I haven't read all of the posts, but it seems like we're saying that the only 'girl clothes' are thongs, skirts, bikinis, and dresses. So I guess most of the girls around where I live all dress as guys? They still look pretty feminine to me.

Hahaha, it's because I normally wear a cap and from the front I look quite masculine,I actually have really long hair (I'm cutting it all off though and giving it to charity xD) so then I'll probually look like a guy ... (it's worth it though, I get to help kids with cancer <3 )
Its a lot of fun to start with, but when you get people telling you that you've gone to the wrong toilets a lot, it gets annoying. :')
Your younger self is a lot like me
I think people should be allowed to dress how they like too, a man can wear women's clothes if they want. What's the big deal? Clothing is clothing. But your totally right women's clothes are so shaped it can get ridiculous in cases. It's hard enough for women to find clothes that fit them sometimes, let alone a guy who has a different body shape. I personally think that's a shame....
If you think about it, it's unfair. Everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves

it's not that guys can't :/ everyone can crossdress, it's just a matter of whether they are willing to do so.. and take in the stares of the public(and think they're weird)

I totally agree with the person who submitted the abovementioned quote, but androgynous fashions have been in style for quite sometime, and for those who are into men dressing like women take a look at the latest Japanese styles for men, a lot of guys in skirts.

It's like how males can be pimps, but females can not.

OR

How males can brag about sex and not be called a whore.

<- very feminine and gay
It works if you have the looks, like shaving your legs and staying pretty thin.
But i digress, I think that it's just peoples perspective on things

Because its gay. But when I see a woman wearing an overly masculine outfit I think she must be a lesbian, and then I'm like hawt, so I guess that's why.

Because femininity in men is still seen as weak, and therefore it's frowned upon for men to do anything feminine.

This could be generalized that femininity as a whole is still seen as weak, but let's not open more cans of worms that we need to.

Because women's clothing are meant to attract men and men's clothing are meant to be comfortable. So if a man wears women's clothing, he's obviously attempting to attract other men (gay). I'd go into reasons why it's disgusting, but no one wants to hear it (which is another serious problem altogether that I won't go into right now.)
Men's clothes are genderless, but better suited for men than women.

If other men are cross-dressing in order to attract me, then they are failing miserable because I'd much rather date that guy over there wearing pants and shirts.

This isn't to say I have an issue with men cross-dressing, but simply pointing out that, as a gay man, I find it unattractive.

I must say, I'm amazed many females can get away with dressing like guys. From my own experience, I get people telling me how improper or strange it is I'd wear male clothing quite often. When I was younger, my parents even tried convincing me to wear dresses and such, haha~
Though I do realize it's more socially acceptable for females to dress in male clothing (though, it's more specifically casual clothing like jeans and such I find).
Anyway, I have to imagine a big reason males can't get away with dressing in ladies clothing in our society has a lot to do with social normality and what people accept. Many people consider male oriented things with neutral gender, actually. Perhaps that, too, has an influence on why females can get away with dressing in male clothing. And then, of course, there's the concept of "what looks good". A large number of people simply don't find a male dressing as a female to be attractive, or find it very weak and silly.
Personally, I believe people should be welcome to wear whatever they please without crude judgement weighing them down. If a male desires to dress as a female, I say go for it, no matter what society says of it.
