My nationality means nothing apart from the colour of my skin.

I mean, look:
Black - Thug, ignorant, poorly spoken, stupid, loud, and dangerous.
White- Snobby, musically uninclined (can't dance, can't sing), ugly and/or fat, control freaks
Asian- Computer lovers, love martial arts, bad luck with the opposite gender, always get plastic surgery, arrogant

I know plenty black folk who are helping oldies crossing my street. I also know plently white folk who could sing your face off. And as for Asian comp geeks? My best friend? Couldn't work a mouse if her life depended on it. It's all stereotyping. I've yet to see ethnicity "affect" a person. If they were brought up that way - then that's them.

It's kind of funny.
I raised in Okinawa and I had my schooling in US but...when I got older for middle school / HS / College my parents just never cared how bad or good i did in that type of stuff. they dont even care if i have a job or not (which i have a job but w.e)
it was like
DO THE BEST YOU CAN DO WE EXPECT NOTHING BETTER OR LESS i guess it was like medium
So I always did the very best i could in work school relationships whatever and i never got praised for it. I was expecting my parents to be hard on me when ..its basically like they didnt give a sh*t if i did bad or good.
I wish it would have been opposite.

Ethnicity? No...Culture? To some extent, but it all depends on the person, you have parents who can be as strict as the want to be and morally upright as well, and their offspring are complete nightmares. Your personality depends on your mindset, its just unfortunate that some people have personalities that conflict with their environment or culture, and end up feeling repressed or resentful because of it, and might lash out in unexpected or harmful ways.

yes-ish in a way, since one's ethnicity is part of their personality, since the traditions and ways of each ethnicity affects the way everyone is raised up, but i dont think its a big affect on one's personality because everyone is different and not everyone one could be affteced by their traditions and backgrounds. so, in my opinion, not really, and if your ethnicity does affect your personality, its not a big affect.

Not really. It all depends on how a individual is raised, regardless of background.

i can't agree. i don't think that ethnicity affects your personality. i think it is a mixture of things.
1. your enviroment
2. the people you hang around with
3. your family
and lastly
your heredity

agreed(we actually talked about this topic in one of my psy class)... example: if a black kid was brought up by asians in their country from a small as low as age 3+ i think that child will have the personality of an asian...

very true, but I think you mean that family's views on certain essentials within culture & other things, not the personality of a Asian lol many different ppl of Asian descent have different beliefs & whatnot :3

Not true. I was rise to be who you want, dress how you want and listen to what you want. So that's who i am. I have no culture and will not be tied down by one. I love all races and all of their music. I say if you limit yourself by culture, you limit your life and you might miss the love of your life.

I think that in a way it does affect your personality, but not as big as how you were raised,or things like culture. For example-if you are raised in a strict enviroment you would tend ta not speak up much which happens alot in asian families (no offense) or if you would have been raised in a easy going laid back enviroment you would probably be more outspoken or easy going as well which usually happens in hispanic families.Me for instance my family is hispanic so we usually have a mellow mood towards things otha families would be real strict bout don't get me wrong mi mai has her moments but she isnot really hard on things like school work but more into things like me having to cook traditional food like rice and beans and cleaning, while most of the asian mothers i seen tend to be for them to be into all school. It cud also be the expectaions of the country your from north america is fast paced , buisnessy and political while places like the carribean have slower more relaxing lifestlye..........hmmmm i jus lost track of wat my point was and wat i was saying jaja
-excuse me for ma english ^.^

everyone has a culture..But maybe u choose not to express it as much..I'm sure u eat family dishes listen to music from where u come from or maybe dance or whatnot.. maybe nothing to extreme but all those little things is apart of ur culture.

I don't think ethnicity does, but I think that where you come from and what you were exposed to affects it.
Mostly things that are dealing with ethnicity these days are based on untrue stereotypes.
