Watching anime probably does make many people into romantics.
Usually what people like about animes is that. You get so immersed into it.
Unlike western comics, animes actually have characters who share similar physical shape as we people do.
So it is very easy to get immersed into an anime and start relating to the anime character you see.
In most romance animes, the main character is usually a normal dude that lives in a normal society and nothing really special happened to him/her. Just like how most people in our society lives in, most people live a normal life, where nothing big happened. and suddenly after several events (that most likely will never happen in real life) he/she falls in love and all sorts of things happen, and it looks very interesting, and usually we forget how it all started.
And thats the big thing. he events that happen for a character to fall in love is most of the time happen so fast and that makes the even seem like something that just takes a fraction of a second to happen. Just think about it, the fact that in an anime it is possible to fall in love with someone in such a short time and the possibilities that can happen out of it. You might run into amusing, embarrassing, or all the normal comedy things that happen in romance animes. and all it took was maybe just a 25 min episode for someone to fall in love. Its freaking unreal!!!
All it takes to get in love is to be a little lucky and in less than 25 min you can fall in true love with someone that you might have interest in!? That sounds so easy!
But the thing is, thats where everything starts falling apart. I'm sure everyone here knows that what anime is is just a fantasy that was created out of someones imagination and is not real.
So now the viewer is thinking "well its just an anime how can this really happen... hahahaha....." But there is still one thing that is in your head. The fact that it actually happened in the anime. No matter even if its an anime the fact that a person witnessed the events unfold in front of the viewers eyes makes it so real, the viewer felt emotion. The viewer saw every little thing that happened in the anime. No matter even if the anime is fake the information you collected from the anime is still in your head.
They say 90% of your memories are mistaken or changed under 24 hours. so as you live on you may forget that some events you see in animes are not real, and you don't need to remember the anime visually, the emotions, feelings, what you were thinking at that moment you were watching the anime can be reminded to you by smell, feeling, thinking, looking, hearing, or any other form of senses you have. and you are probably informed in one way or another of the fantasy you wish could have happened to you. The wonderful fantasy that you can fall in love and all sorts of interesting events can unfold in your some what ordinary life...

HAHAHA... Ya thats what I think is happening in peoples head when they thing anime made them into a romantics.
Don't my words as the answer. I am no psychologist (I just watch discovery channel and all sorts of documentaries lol), and I personally do not watch much romance anime and romance is not my favorite genre ether. I'm basing this on mostly myself because I know anime affected me in one way or another. (But the thing about "90% of your memories are mistaken or changed under 24 hours" I saw it from discovery channel so it might be right)
It is totally possible and I cant see why in cant. I'm sure I've been effected by anime in one way or another since I've watched animes since I was little.
