Dimension Door and Ethereal Blast.

Ethereal Blast is definitely one of the most powerful techniques in SO3 though the down side is that it's so damn slow, rofl. I hate having to wait for Fayt to grow angel wings, fly into the air and charge up while saying slowly "ETHEREAL.............. BLLLAST".

Personally, Dimension Door was a very handy technique when I first went through storymode since it got me out of tight situations during intense boss battles where I'd be the only character left on my party while everyone else was incapped. But once you beat the game and become over levelled and powered, it doesn't do as much damage. I'd rather spam Ethereal Blast and get 15 hits of ~50000+ damage each rather than one single slash from Dimension Door that deals only ~80000+ (Damage depends on how powerful your character is).

SO 3 was such an failure in my opinion, that I'm willing to send my copy to the first person that asks. It's the U.S. version of the game and is in almost new condition. As long as they pay for shipping and everything else that requires money, I'll send... It's almost free. I'm serious the game is so boring... I'm glad this one looks a lot more promising.

But in essence, Dimension Door takes long to deliver the blow. Plus you have the option of holding down X or O (pending on whether or not you decided to set it to short/long range) to charge it up for a higher chance of dealing a critical hit to the enemy's HP. In the time that it would take for DD to execute if you decide to do this, you can spam Air Raid 2-3 times (If you have the Max HP skill activated) and deal almost triple the damage compared to just the single slash. Or you could wait for Ethereal Blast in that time and hit 15 times and deal tenfold of the damage.

Personally, I completely stopped using DD just because it only allowed a single hit and it took quite sometime to charge and use. It would be much better to pull off the Air Raid and Side Kick combination in its place since you'll do more damage and get a nice attack combo and a higher chance of getting a cancel combo bonus (you can use both moves consecutively given that you have the Max HP skill turned on). And Ethereal Blast is worth the delay time since it deals tremendous amounts of damage as well as a nice attack combo.

Well, most people found the game bland and/or boring according to most reviews so it scored a somewhat low rating compared to other RPGs that were out during SO3's release. But overall the plot was extremely well done and that would've drawn in a lot of fanatics (such as myself, rofl) and some high ratings.

I'd be glad to take your offer if I didn't already have the game as you've probably interpretted from my gigantic essays on SO3 in this thread, lol.

Star Ocean4!!!!!!!!!! i can't wait for it! i got addicted to rpg games since i first took hold of my playstation. and the star ocean series were one of those that i desired most. (probably one of the best!) the stories were great! the music, gameplay, graphix were also outstanding. the ideas and concepts of star ocean were also amazing and surprising... they were all original, by the way... and unique too! can't wait to play the 4th part....

Same. As I've already mentioned, SO4 is the only reason that'd make me go out and purchase myself a PS3.

Me neither but I'd rather wait for the game's development. Usually when games that are rushed during the development stages, the outcome is horrible. The more time they spend coding, programming and testing, the better the game will be so if SO4 will be an exceptionally wonderful game, I'd want them to spend time to develop it rather than rush them.

Hmm... Speaking of which I think I'll actually play some SO3 myself later today if I'm not doing anything. Think I'll go rape Freya and Ethereal Queen continuously just for the enjoyment. Taking 0 damage is absolutely amazing and entertaining at the same time though it is pretty damn cheap, rofl.

Square Enix is still playing coy when talking about its exclusivity deals that concern upcoming RPG titles for the Xbox 360.

In a statement made on Yahoo Japan's financial site, the company affirms that there are no plans to release the just-announced Star Ocean: The Last Hope on the PlayStation 3.

This is of course careful wording -- "no plans" -- because it was quite clear at the Microsoft RPG event earlier this week that there was never any announcement of an exclusive release for the Xbox 360 (unlike the trumpeting of exclusivity for Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery). Star Ocean 4 will launch in 2009 on the Xbox 360; that's it for now.

This game of exclusivity and timed-exclusivity is really getting ridiculous. Sure, it's entirely understandable that Sony and Microsoft both want to get any advantage they can in the current-gen console wars, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a company is hedging its bets in terms of multi-platform releases.
