for all you gong yoo lovers... here's an article that i found in hancinema.net sometime april...

Gong Yoo, who entered military service after the end of "Coffee Prince", is telling his fans how he's doing.

On March 30, he wrote a letter to them on his fan cafe, saying, "This is Private Gong Ji-chul, and I'm doing well". He added, "It's been three months since I left with a heavy heart, leaving you crying behind me. I'm in Chulwon, where I have to live for the next two years.

He wasn't able to train for a week because of asthma, but, except for one part, completed all his training. He said that he did all the autograph signing he can do in his life at the training facility.

"I think I got a lot of Taiwanese and Chinese fans. I'm studying English through English letters, and when it's hard and lonely, I laugh a lot reading your letters".

"I'm doing well. I'm still a private who can't do anything, and I think I'm going to be criticized by my seniors. By age, I'm about third or fourth. I'm a little sorry to those young seniors who are uncomfortable around me". Half-jokingly, he revealed the difficulties of entering the army at an old age.

"At first, it was chaotic, but now I feel like I'm really in the army. I think I have to calm down a little bit. Goodbye, no, I salute you". He also left another thank you letter for his fans on April 6.

He revealed that he was happy for the presents his fans left him. "I received all your presents. I'm touched. There are stickers and pictures of me everywhere. My seniors tell me that I'm like a PX (store inside of the army). Because of your presents, it was chaotic with distributing the packages". He also said that he was gaining popularity within his troop from his fans' presents.

Well, what an actor is all i can say. I did not know that it was a requirment to go to the military training thing. I thought he was doing it vouluntery,but it matters not. Time passes fast, and thjose 2 years will be gone, then we will see more of him.^^ I just wish him luck in his training, he has a lot of talent, and it would be sad if it went to waste, but either way hes aswome ^^. I'll wait for you ;3;....no matter what XD lol. His military haircut is too short for him, but he still is cute no matter what. Good luck! We will wait! ;3;

Gong Yoo leads the funeral of Lee Eon

Taking special leave from his military duties, Gong Yoo pays his last respects to his friend and co-star in the drama, Coffee Prince, Lee Eon by leading the funeral procession early August 23rd 2008.

The day earlier on August 22nd, Gong Yoo offered an apology to his friend on his Cyworld minihompy by featuring a photo of him with the words :

“It’s strange. The night before you left, I happened to listen again to the message you read on the radio for me… suddenly, I thought of you and I missed you, and I wanted to call ? I should have called. I should have forced you to change that persistent ring tone. I’m sorry.”

Gong Yoo arrived at the hospital’s funeral room a little after midnight on August 23 for the funeral procession at 4am. Over 100 friends and family attended.

There are no words to express how we feel….Rest in peace
