I My Me! Strawberry Eggs Ai Mai Mi! Sutoroberī Eggu
Drama, Romantic Comedy

Hibiki Amawa is a very poor teacher who needs to find a job. The only school near by is one that has all female teachers. Because of this, his land lady helps him and dresses him as a women, even going as far as to give him a voice changer. As he becomes a teacher, he tries to change everyone's thinking of how men are viewed at the school and show that they can love just as much as women. As he does though, one student stands out the most to him, this little girl needs more help then the others.

My Thoughts: I loved it and It has a sad ending. The story is really cute and I fell in love with the characters and there personalities. The two perverts he has in his dorm/apartments are so funny and the landlady is really awesome! She is so technical, I always seem to wonder where the hell she gets all the stuff!

Ellcia Gensō Jodan Elicia
Adventure, Fantasy

In a time of advance technology and mid-evil ideas, a old king took the world by war and cruelty. But there is a ancient book speaking of its destruction and a powerful ship that will help destroy them. The Princess of this evil king has left on a quest to find this ship. The only thing that stands in there way is a small group of pirates.

My Thoughts: It is somewhat narrative. I don't know weather I like it or not though I feel the anime just isn't really my cup of tea. I have to put it on the same level as Record of Lodoss War. It has a DnD feel to the artwork and story line. If you like oldies fantasy, then this is your one. The Picture for the cover was the one that threw me off a bit. I thought it was going to be all nice like this but the anime is really old school.

Mars Daybreak Kenran Butōsai Za Māzu Deibureiku
Romance, comedy, mecha, adventure,

In the future, Mars has been covered with one large ocean and people live on floating cities. Gram River is a young over eccentric man who has somehow got into a war between pirates and the Earth Forces. Can this guy not get killed while making a little extra cash?

My Thoughts: I actually like this one even though I normally am not into Mechas. There is a fantasy aspect to this especially with a cat and dolphin that can talk. I love the captain who reminds me a lot of a mixture of the Captain Magno Vivan and Gascogne Rheingau from Vandread. She gets pissed off and seems to lose herself when someone scratches her ship. The government is so funny and shows how bad the people in power are.

Popotan
Comedy, drama, fantasy

Ai, Mai, Mii are three sisters that live in a big house where they have wonderful memories. They have some interesting powers including one to talk to plants. They talk to specifically a plant they call Popotan, there special name for Dandelions. For some reason, they keep traveling around in a special way and can never be in one place for to long as they are looking for something.

My Thoughts: I actually like it. It is rather adult oriented since it shows the breasts fully exposed in a lot of the scenes. The characters are so colorful and fun loving that I feel much better when I watch it. The Animation is rather original, and the voices are ok. The story feels like a group of small stories tied together by the sisters and there maid, Mea. I laughed with there strange little ferret since he was always getting into trouble.

Princess Tutu Purinsesu Chuchu
MetaFiction (Romantic Irony), Romantic-Comedy, Drama, High Fantasy,
Key Words: Magical Girl, Music, Ballet, Dancing,

Episodes: 26

Once upon a time, there was an author who died while writing a book called the Prince and the Raven. Drosselmeyer’s stories seemed to always become reality and because of this, the people were afraid and killed him, leaving the Prince and the Raven unfinished. Since they were trapped in an eternal battle, the Raven broke free of the book, followed by the Prince who shattered his heart to seal the Raven away. Drosselmeyer came back, only to morph the world around him into that of the story. He comes upon a small duckling that after seeing the sad dance of the now heartless Prince (Now given the name Mytho) falls in love with him and wants to make him happy. He decides to give her a magical pendent to make her human and whenever a heart piece is around, she turns into the renowned heroine Princess Tutu. With the powers she is given, she starts gathering the Prince’s heart only to find both Fakir, Mytho’s childhood friend, and Rue, Mytho’s possessive girlfriend, attempting to stop her from restoring his heart.

My Thoughts: The artwork is beautiful, as though like water color, and rather high class only to have wonderful music from many different ballets like the Nutcracker, Midsummer Nights Dream, and Swan Lake. It’s not the same as most magical girl stories as there is a lot of whimsical feelings right along side the darkness that dwells within it. The transformation, however beautiful it might be, doesn’t take to long so as we don’t sit there for 5 minutes watching it every episode (Damn Sailor Moon for that). Both voices are good, English being rather nice, though one or two can need to be a little bad. Luckily, the main characters are really done well so the bad ones don’t stay long. The story is mixed into other stories, twisting many fairy tales. One problem with the English though, why do they call Ahiru Duck? I understand when you translate Ahiru, it becomes Duck but they should have kept a real name for her.

Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix (Mar 2004), Hi no Tori, Phoenix
Scifi, Fantasy,
Key Words: Robots, Future, Past, History, Magic, Eternal Life, Legends, Twisted History,

Episodes: 13

~Dawn~
In 240-270 AD, Queen Himiko of the Yamataikoku used her army to invade Japan under the feudal General Sarutahiko. Her goal is the legendary bird, the Phoenix, and the eternal youth it can give.

~Resurrection~
In 2482-3344 AD, it is the age of robots, technology, and science. Young Leon dies in a car accident and is returned to life with surgery; however most of his brain is artificial. When he looks at humans, his eyes see strange, distorted clay figures while robots look like real people. Trying to escape from his hell with the humans, he meets a beautiful robot who is called Chihiro and falls in love but their love is forbidden and he most fight to keep his love. Not only that, but there is some strange things that happened with his accident that he must figure out.

~Strange Beings~
The story follows a sinful female Samurai who is trapped within a time-warp by the legendary bird. It is her punishment and is forced to become a healer to treat the victims of wars, all over time and space, many of whom are not actually human.

~The Sun~
Harima is a young Korean soldier from the Baekje Kingdom who was tortured by Tang Dynasty soldiers after a defeat. They replace his head with that of a wolf’s as a form of torment. Without remembering who he is or where he is from, he escapes to Japan where he becomes caught in the middle of the Jinshin War as well as a greater, spiritual battle.

~The Future~
In 3404 AD, the world has become super-modern and humanity is at its peak, starting to show signs of decline. Masato Yamanobe and his shapeshifting alien girlfriend, Tamami, are pressured into taking shelter at the isolated base of Dr. Saruta, a mad scientist who is trying to preserve life on Earth. Soon, a war breaks out, but is it the end of human life?

My Thoughts:This show is rather pretty, showing beautiful artwork and almost flawless animation. The story tries to make you think about what we wish for and has a careful what we wish idea. The story is rather hard to follow sadly, being composed of many different stories all rolled up in one and jumps between time frames, only to keep the Phoenix and one other character throughout it. What I get from it is that the idea of living forever and having great power will live on forever no matter how much times change the people. Now I am not so sure about some of the more twilight zone-ish areas of the anime… for instance, the dog face ark of the story… but I feel it does have a small message within it as well. Having said this, I think I should say that the Dog Face story ark was one of my favorites because it had wolves in it (Ya… sorry but I’m crazy for anything that has a wolf in it being a good guy) and it was also well done and nicely dubbed when you get down to it. In fact, the whole show was nicely animated and dubbed bringing it higher on my list of much watch shows. It’s a classic vintage style keeping to the story line of the Manga as closely as it can, or at least that is what I’ve been hearing. As soon as I find a copy of it, you will hear my opinion of that.

Di Gi Charat Nyo! De Ji Kyaratto Nyo
Comedy, Sci Fi, Chibi, Children,

Dejiko is a princess from the planet Di Gi Charat and is on a trip to Earth to become a better Princess. She took along her friends Gamma and Puchiko and crash landed on the planet. Now she is stuck there and having to live in a toy store with the strange brothers,Kiyoshi and Yasushi Omocha.

My Thoughts: Animation is rather strange and the characters are even strange. Music is not really that out there ether. I wasn't really into it except for the story. I wouldn't buy it but I would watch it for a little kid show. I do have to say the animation is better then the older one though.

Wedding Peach Tenshi Densetsu Wedingu Pīchi Legend of the Angel of Love: Wedding Peach
Magical Girl, Romance

Momoko Hanasaki is a normal girl who always wore her mother's ring and one day wanted to find love and marry in her mother's wedding dress. Suddenly, a devil comes out of nowhere and tries to steal her ring. With the help of Aphrodite and the Angel Limone, she becomes the Love Angel, Wedding Peach! Now with the help of her friends, she stops the devils from destroying love and friendship.

My Thoughts: Really a play off of the story of Sailor Moon. The story line mimics Sailor Moon almost to close for comfort. The transformations, the story of the saint something four coming down from heaven that looks like a moon...... The music is ok, I would of liked a little more upbeat though. Animation is pretty nice but the transformations and the attacks keep being used over and over again. Limone is like the Tuxedo Mask of the Sailor moon shows.

Nyan Koi!
Occult, Cats, Harem, comedy, drama

Junpei Kosaka is a high schooler who is allergic to cats though his family keeps a very large, ill-tempered black and white cat named Nyamsus. One day, he kicks a can into a special statue shrine and brakes the head of Jizo, a Guardian of cats. Jizo, being mad at the evil deed done to his place, cursed Junpei so that he could understand cats. If he does not grant the wishes of 100 cats, then he himself will become a cat and die from his allergy. To make this even worse, almost every girl around him loves cats and can't seem to get enough of them including his high school crush, Kaede Mizuno. If he tells anyone about this curse, they to will be cursed and the curse on him will grow even faster.

My Thoughts: I LOVE IT! It is really cute and the story is rather original from what I've seen before. I never saw something like this that marries a allergy in with a curse before. The artwork is crisp and clean and the music is ok. The Cat's all have there own personalities and the voices so far fit perfectly with the style of each cat weather their young, old, or chubby. I think its really a fun one to watch!

Hell Girl Jigoku Shōjo
Occult, Drama, Supernatural,

Ai Enma is a young girl with a terrible secret. Through out the years, people have written to her the names of those that they feel have done wrong to them. In return for her to fare there tormentor to the other side into hell, they would give up there own happiness in heaven to go to hell when they die with a single pull of a red string on the doll she gives. The Website http://www.jigokutsushin.co.nr/ only is shown at 12 o clock and only when the person has enough hate to place a name. Each person has a story, each has a darkness in their heart, who would you chose to go to hell....... Will you pull the thread?

My Thoughts: I love this Story line. The idea of a young girl, cursed to bring souls to hell for those that did wrong. I only wonder what happen to Ai Enma to make her have to do so. Her Grandma is rather strange, I never seen her face. Only a faint outline and when she talks, it seems to come from a strange spider. Anyway, I feel the same way as some of her victims at times, the thought of wanting someone to take them to hell was always in the back of my mind and even now, there are things that make me want to do so. Even so, I don't know if I could answer her saying,

"If you truly wish to eliminate your antagonist,
you must untie that red string.
If you remove the string, you shall officially
enter into a contract with me.
The one you seek revenge upon shall be taken immediately to Hell.
However, if I deliver your revenge,
I must have you make restitution to me.
When one person is cursed, two graves are dug.
When you die, your soul shall fall into the pit of Hell.
Your spirit shall wander forever in pain and suffering,
never having known paradise.
Well, that's after you die.
The rest is for you to decide.

Natsume's Book of Friends Natsume Yujincho
Comedy, Drama, Supernatural, Folklore, Spirits ,

Takashi Natsume is able to see spirits which he has long kept silent. One day, he inherits a strange book that belonged to his grandmother and discovers why he can see them. The names of these spirits are contained in the book and are bound by a contract this way. Now he is determined to release them from their contract.

My Thoughts: The monsters are so cute! At least most of them and the story line is rather sweet and childish almost but has a good story line. Natsume is really cute and always seems to have a answer for everything that comes to him. The Cat is so funny that it reminds me of the dog from Kekkaishi.

Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders Starla & the Jewel Riders
American Animation, Children, fantasy, magic,

On the Island of Avalon, it is a fairy tail utopia. People live with mystical animals and can use magic with the aid of the jewels, magical amplifiers tuned by Merlin. Life was peaceful till the Queen's sister, Lady Kale, finds a wild jewel in the woods. Her jealousy had grown so much from her sister owning the Sunstone that had been the source of the royal family's power that she used the wild magic to send Merlin far away and almost got her hands on the jewels of the land. The Jewel riders stopped her just in time but the Jewels of the land went missing. Now the Jewel riders need to find the stones.

My Thoughts: I can't believe this used to be my favorite show when I was little. Many don't know of this show but I still like it as a old story line. The animation is rather off to the voices and the colors are odd. There are lots of things that don't work for consistences. I like the voices though. There are a lot of funny things in it like the trees and how they play with Kale. The strange weasel things are the funnest though. It's strange to me that only Tamara that doesn't have a friend she can ride. All in all, if you like a kiddy show, this is a good one for girls.

Reboot
Action, Adventure, science fiction, CGI Animation

Within the Inner world of the Computer System is a place called Mainframe. People walk about and interact as normal their program but every once in a while, the user will upload a game into the computer and the people would have to fight to service the game cube. If the user wins, then the people are killed, and if the people win, the game leaves without harm. That's where Bob comes in. He is a protector, a virus defense from the net. He goes into the games to help stop them and also fights the two viruses Hexadecimal and Megabyte.

My Thoughts: I like it for the new feel of it from when it first came out. It was the first time they created a CGI animation I think and so its a little rough but the idea is there. The story line feels like it jumps but if cleaned up, it would be a pretty good show especially if they redo it now.

Welcome to the NHK (2006), N.H.K. ni Yōkoso!
Adsurdist, Satire, Black Comedy, Romance,
Key Words: Conspiracy, Ecchi, Video Games, Hikikomori,
Licensed American Publisher:

Episodes: 24

Tatsuhiro Satō is a hikikomori, a recluse or someone that does not leave the house at all. One day, a beautiful girl(Misaki Nakahara) comes to his door and says she can cure him but he would have to meet her every day. Trying to be cool, he says that he works at home on games and when she asks to see one, he goes to his only friend for help and started to create a GAU Game.... or a perverted game. When he can't show her it, he takes the 'classes' she has to offer. He believes that everything in the world is a conspiracy and the NHK is behind it all because of the talks he had with his senpai long ago. Can he fight off going crazy by imaging strange talking refrigerators in order to get the girl of his dreams?

My Thoughts: The story feels similar to Wallflower, though it does take it to a whole other level. This takes it more to the extreme with how they work the conspiracy theory inside of the show. It gives it a whole new angle to work with. It also goes on to add other reasons someone would become a Hikikomori like video games and just general areas. The animation is a crazy mix mash of out of control meets simple and clean, with this crazy blue character popping up ever so often. Sometimes a little two often. He seems to come up whenever its inappropriate like… well… just take a look at the box and you can see why I’m not going to say. The music has a pretty good range to it, and isn’t too much of a bother to the actual show but there is one song that is just way to addictive in a bad sort of way. Voice acting is alright, some characters sound a little boring or in monotone almost all the time though.

Corpse Princess Shikabane Hime
Romance, Fantasy, Horror,Comedy,

Makina Hoshimura is a murdered high school girl. Somehow, she was turned into a 'living corpse' and must kill 108 other living corpses in order to open the doors of heaven for her. Together with the monk Keisei Tagami (Who is a anime freak) she hunts down other living corpses that are pleging there world.

My Thoughts: Its pretty fun with the comedy they put in and the artwork is sweet. It is gory so if you don't like that stuff, this isn't for you. I nice change to the zombie idea but I had trouble keeping up with it.
