Why do videos take so long to load, if at all?

I posted this in the Help/Support/Feedback forum.

I've been a paying member since about June '09.

For at least two months now, I haven't watched any shows because they take around 3 hours to load! That's ridiculous.

Is there a browser I should be using? I have a Mac Book Pro 10.5.8 it really doesn't give me any trouble at all with other stream sites.

I use Safari and Firefox, neither of which work any better, I'm downloading IE to see if that'll make a difference.

Is it even worth it anymore to continue using CrunchyRoll when it takes that long to see a video? That's IF the video loads at all. I usually end up finding another free stream site, or if possible a download somewhere, yes an illegal download. It's just about the only way I can watch any episodes anymore.

Until recently, nothing was happening, I only saw the episode thumbnail with no play bar. But I had read that that was being worked on, so I waited to say anything, since there was no use in polluting the forum with more "What's wrong" threads..

[Edit] IE doesn't work at all.

I tried using our home PC Windows, the videos are SLOWER than on my Mac, so I know it's not just my computer.

I even used our 6year old Mac notebook. I was at my friends house over the weekend, and she couldn't get it to load on her Dell laptop which is brand new, plus I tried my Macbook Pro at her place too. What's going on? D:

I just put all of that to prove that I tried several different ways, rather than relying on my computer alone, in case it was an issue with my laptop. I'm trying to think of what else I need to include so that this is at least helpful and not just ranting... We also tried her families speedy Windows PC.

I hopped down to my university to try the wifi and their computer lab (so different computers), no good. I've been to three different places with different connections, I've tried several different browsers. I even booted my mac up in Windows (I have a partitioned disc) and ran IE, which still didn't work.

I'm sorry for making another "It won't work" thread, I was really trying to avoid that, and instead was reading through other "it won't work" threads. Seeing the date on some of them though, it seems this has been going on for a while. Is anything being done about it? I don't want to pay for something that's not working, D: but I would love it if it did, CR is nice and convenient for me and makes me feel good and supportive. ^^

[edit] Of course, right after I posted this, I just watched a full Gintama ep.... I hope this streak of luck continues. ._.

[update] It seems that, with a little luck, meaning I have to refresh several times and rely on hit or miss, the low definition works, but the high def doesn't. So I just hit refresh a bunch of times and hope that it works, but I haven't gotten any of them to work in 480p, just SD.

When the problem occurs next time, you'll need to run a speedtest and pingtest separately and link to the results here.
http://www.speedtest.net/
http://www.pingtest.net/

Also, follow the proper set of instructions below to test your connection to our servers.

a) For computers with Windows installed:
- Click the Start button and then click on Run (or Window+R).

- In the Run window, type "cmd" without quotation marks and press Enter/OK.

- When the black Command Prompt opens, type in "nslookup cp71915.edgefcs.net" without the quotation marks and press Enter.

- Type "ping cp71915.edgefcs.net" without the quotation marks and press Enter.

- Type "tracert cp71915.edgefcs.net" without the quotation marks and press Enter.

- When those commands are done, right click anywhere in the command prompt, click Select All and press Enter to copy the text.

b) For Apple computers with Mac OSX installed:
- Open the Network Utility which can be found by going to the Macintosh HD, under Applications and Utilities. (You should also be able to find it via Spotlight)

- In the Network Utility window, click on the Ping tab, type in "cp71915.edgefcs.net" without quotation marks and set it to send only 4 pings.

- Then click the Ping button and copy/paste the results in a response to this email.

- Also, click on the Traceroute tab and type in "cp71915.edgefcs.net" without quotation marks.

- Then click the Trace button and copy the results.

With that information, I can see what type of network issue you are having.

I'd suggest doing the following:

1) Clear your web browser's cache/temporary internet files. (instructions vary by browser)

2) Clear the cache for your Flash installation:

- Follow this link to go to the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html
- Un-checkmark the 2 boxes
- Click the "Confirm" button
- Re-checkmark the 2 boxes

Then close your browser, reopen it and try any of our videos.
