Not every confrontation that a gay person experiences in their life is based on their orientation. But sometimes it is very difficult to see any other possible explanation.

Take the experience that Joe Paolucci, Thomas Hitchcock, and their special need twins had recently with Wal-Mart.

Employees at the Niles, MI Wal-Mart store accused Paolucci of shoplifting some Bic lighters. Although he produced the receipt, they refused to back down, insisting that the two men go to a “detention room”. The employees, using vulgarities and hostility, frightened their special needs kids. (South Bend Tribune)

Gee, sure is nice people at Wal-Mart. Have any of you guys had some bad experiences with Wal-Mart? Or heard of someone?

And what does this make you think?

I personally am not sure what to say, it's so mind blowing dumb and cruel.

Wow that's really sad, as employees they should put prejudice aside and be professional.
They had a receipt, that should have been end of discussion.
Unfortunately, I had a bad experience in Walmart as a kid.
I was there with a friend because I used to collect magazines (corny i know)
It was right next to the warm food section (had chicken, turkeys, etc.)
So one of the women that worked behind there came out and started yelling at us.
Saying she knows about my kind of people and I shouldn't have been there more than five minutes.
And that we should let her check us because she knows we're thieves.

If it were me I'd hire a lawyer and kick up a huge fuss.
It'd still feel like justice even if I didn't personally get to slap the wrists of those involved.

On a slightly related note I'm wondering how legit this is purely based on that there was no mention of suing. It's bizarre that in this day and age where everyone is suing everyone else and his dog, that when a decent reason for a lawsuit crops up there is not mention of it.

Because this kind of stuff never happens to straight people, right? I can care less that they're gay(Im not exactly for gays either..) Regardless, I'd hire a lawyer and take those officers/wal-mart down...

Dont even shop at Wal-Mart anyways :] usually go to Fry's or Safeway.

No Wal-Mart here so I can't really "feel" your rage
This is an everyday news. I don't think it's because they're gay. It's because the employees of Wal-Mart are not very smart/bored.

(so that no one will bash me)
OMG! POOR THEM!

This is just too funny! I swear, what the fuck is going on with this gay bashing today?

I've experienced some bad costumer service at one Wal-Mart more than once and have been checked by security on the way out, even though the white couple ahead of me was not searched at all.

But I can't help not to shop there sometimes, for they have some of the items I need. Maybe I should go to Target or Kmart for now on.

This is gonna sound mean but I find it hilarious. Personally I have no issue if someone wants to be gay as I know a few and they're good buddies. And without a doubt if I watched this happen to them I'd break into laughter at it. Not a lot of people are exactly accepting of gays but I don't believe that to be the issue, it's definitely portrayed that way however. Wal-Mart employees aren't all stupid either, it just happens when they employ rednecks who can't read.

Boycott Walmart!

Okay, I'm finished joking around. That is seriously messed, though. But it kind of made me laugh, tbh. Poor kids, though....they got the shit scared out of them...(more like piss scared out of them). I've never actually had problems with Wal-Mart, but after hearing this I'm gonna keep an eye out for stuff like this happening....

Whatever the reason was that they decided to attack customers for no reason, Wal-mart was in the wrong.

They owe an apology, and the CEO, if the reason for the problem really was the CEO's biased behaviors, needs to be relieved of his duties. Because if he can't temper his personal inner issues and insecurities out of his work place, he is unfit for a position of power; the CEO would just abuse the power more.

Poor kids
