I joined CR a long, long time ago when I was just a little girl in the country...not quite but almost three years ago. I adored the site, honestly. It was the most user friendly site with the fastest loading videos and funnest people ;P but over these years CR has changed so much and sometimes it's JUST SO SAD. I miss the old CR that had every single video you could possibly ask for.

I'm still loyal to the site, of course. But there honestly isn't much on here anymore :'(
I think it peaked when they had manga on here too!!!

So great of you to write this.
I saw this post by a coincedence and logged on for the first time in a very long time.
I miss the old crunchyroll too, I have dedicated many hours to this site and its' content.

The problems aren't very hard to spot, but the owners will probably not do anything about.
1. It feels like deadly revolution, we are being promised a "better future" if we just hold it right now. This has been going on for a while. I feel manipulated.

Getting permision to show different animes are a very good idea however:
2. The owners of this site have become more and more like a company and only think in terms of profit.
3. To earn profit only one major group of users are being marketed (americans and pre-teens) this leaves out a lot of people. Both in the sense that they can't access a lot of content but also in a more allegorical way.
4. Because of only targeting at pre-teens the quality has dropped significally, it's almost ridicilous look at the shows And the discussion thread are all like: what anime character do you like etc.

5. The site can be very slow and the commercials in the video are a terrible idea.
6. The site suffers from lack of quality movies (there are many where there are no copyrights) and I don't want to start talking about the dramas.

Having people paying is not a bad thing at all but suffocating a big group of people means that a lot of dedicated people who are willing to help are being excluded.

7. There are a lot of things that makes this site less user friendly for instance the comment system and the difficulty in writing to different people without befriending them. The whole interface makes it hard to communicate. These erros can easily be spotted but no steps are being taken.

To conclude with nr. 1. It won't surprise me if this thread gets deleted.

Taking it the legal way is always slower.

Yes, I'm reminiscing of the times where you could just go through CR's library, and successfully find the film you've been searching for so long. Those were, indeed, awesome times.

I feel the same way completely. I wish crunchyroll didn't make so many changes cause everything went downhill once most of the videos & mangas were removed. but strangely, I still like this site for what reasons I can't give

"They are working hard." Do you have any proof of that? Working at improving the interface? This site hasn't been improved in a long time, the improvements can't be taking more than a year. A couple days could do it if they had a good scriptwriter.

Yes, I am all in for the legal way, even though it may take a long time. Let it take forever. But that has nothing to do with quality and material of the shows they are getting now. You can't mix those two things. Also it shouldn't serve to justify that crunchyroll users are being treated unequivally because "they are working hard". There are a lot of lesser known but really good quality movies, animes, mangas where the site doesn't have to fight for copyright.

So this is why both arguments can't serve as an excuse.

i remember going to CR like 4 years ago.. i barely knew how to use it though xD so i didnt came here often

about 2-3 years ago i begin to watch a little more as it improves, i remember being able to find dramas, movies, animes that most site dont have. Sadly enough i didnt have time to make great use of it ... and what is worst is that i never did when CR became legal. Not saying this was a bad idea but, like so many old users, i miss the old CR at times :l

I'll agree that perhaps the site is a bit American-biased in terms of region blocks, but at the same time there's not always a lot they can do about those.

As for 'pre-teens'.... given how much yuri loli stuff the site has, I'd say that's hardly the case.

Maybe I can't judge since I wasn't around much before everything was legalised, but still. I'll agree that Crunchyroll could do with a wider selection of videos, but it's still not half bad otherwise.

CR is still the best. The site continues to bring free great value to people, that's undeniable.

I think that they also did a great job in monetizing the site, not too much user experience has been sacrificed for it. I don't think that there is a better organized site than this.

The Amazon Affiliate links don't bother people at all.

The 30 second commercial is a bit excessive...but still many times better than normal tv.

There is a lot of untapped potential for this site...they're leaving a lot of money on the table as it as. I'm thinking that they will further commercialize this site. However, at the same time, I'm sure they will also seek to continuously improve user experience.

I dunno. I mean, I guess my opinion is kind of invalid because I wasn't around for the 'old CR' and all it's apparent glory. But, shit happens, and it's better than Shinji getting sued and the entire site going under, right?

New to CR, i enjoy it, and if they dont have something i want to watch. I just go elsewhere.. Still enjoy the community though atleast so far.
