After seeing Avatar, fans have become so depressed that they cannot live in the fictional word of Pandora that they are contemplating suicide. A forum opened up for like-minded individuals of this topic and received over 1,000 replies. These are people who are depressed that the Earth sucks, but aren't doing anything to make it better but whine on the internet.

(CNN) -- James Cameron's completely immersive spectacle "Avatar" may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.

On the fan forum site "Avatar Forums," a topic thread entitled "Ways to cope with the depression of the dream of Pandora being intangible," has received more than 1,000 posts from people experiencing depression and fans trying to help them cope. The topic became so popular last month that forum administrator Philippe Baghdassarian had to create a second thread so people could continue to post their confused feelings about the movie.

"I wasn't depressed myself. In fact the movie made me happy ," Baghdassarian said. "But I can understand why it made people depressed. The movie was so beautiful and it showed something we don't have here on Earth. I think people saw we could be living in a completely different world and that caused them to be depressed."

A post by a user called Elequin expresses an almost obsessive relationship with the film.

"That's all I have been doing as of late, searching the Internet for more info about 'Avatar.' I guess that helps. It's so hard I can't force myself to think that it's just a movie, and to get over it, that living like the Na'vi will never happen. I think I need a rebound movie," Elequin posted.

A user named Mike wrote on the fan Web site "Naviblue" that he contemplated suicide after seeing the movie.

"Ever since I went to see 'Avatar' I have been depressed. Watching the wonderful world of Pandora and all the Na'vi made me want to be one of them. I can't stop thinking about all the things that happened in the film and all of the tears and shivers I got from it," Mike posted. "I even contemplate suicide thinking that if I do it I will be rebirthed in a world similar to Pandora and the everything is the same as in 'Avatar.' "

Other fans have expressed feelings of disgust with the human race and disengagement with reality.

(Just so you know, you're getting the abridged version. Yeah, there's more.)

Within the fan community, suggestions for battling feelings of depression after seeing the movie include things like playing "Avatar" video games or downloading the movie soundtrack, in addition to encouraging members to relate to other people outside the virtual realm and to seek out positive and constructive activities.

LOL yeah I read it in the news and I was like "huh?" because they want to live in that planet as well.

Isn't it just like animes, when a character travels into a different world...?

The film is overrated. The only "brilliant" part of the film is the graphics and animation. The story is bland and unoriginal. It's also quite similar to Pocahontas.

Those who got depressed after watching the film, need to grow a spine and actually do something. They are not making things better, they are just sitting there wasting away.

Those people getting depressed should suck it up and make a difference if they're so discontent. Avatar is just a recycled script with pretty pictures.

Edit: Lol at AHTL's picture. xP

Remember when we were little and wished we lived in the pokemon world? And depressed everyday when we'd wake up at 7am to go to school instead of traveling the world for free catching pokemon? Yeah..well..it's something like that. Don't worry. Those losers will eventually grow out of it.

God, I loved avatar. It reminded me of Pocahontas.
lol I remember my dad coming home after watching avatar.
"man...I wish I lived in Pandora. Our planet is shit."

Edit:
Looking at AHTL's post. It's good to know I"m not the only one that thought it was like Pocahontas.

Wow, people wanting to kill themselves because Pandora is nothing like our world?! Seriously, what a bunch of babies. Yeah, our world's not perfect, but contemplating suicide because of that is just ridiculous. Get over it.

I love Avatar, even though it made my ass and legs numb since it was what? a 2 or 3 hour movie? too long i think lol
Yea it shows that our world is crap and that maybe the government is hiding things that could probably threaten our current lives.
Who knows what could be happening now? My imagination isn't so good =/ but whatever
I dont know if it's just me but how does this movie cause depression and suicide thoughts?
