To clarify, since it seems I may have miscommunicated:

Twitter's infrastructure may be the underlying cause for this event, but responsibility lies with Crunchyroll staff.

It would seem staff failed to do any of the following prior to the contest/announcing results: A) Research the platform being used (i.e. Ask or read concerning it, features for example), Test the platform being used (even a cursory use would have shown the function and problem), C) Acknowledge pertinent information from clients regarding the platform prior to the announcement. Any single one of these actions would have prevented the current situation, so responsibility lies with Crunchyroll. It is in the end, almost always the organisers responsibility for the operation of an event.

Further, rather than accepting that... we have an inflammatory post which serves to: A) Insult and belittle both users and their concerns, "Punish" all their customers for the above mentioned failure, C) Create division within the user base by placing blame upon a portion of it and damaging the community, D) Foster distrust between a distributor and their clients, E) Highlight the situation in a very public way which tarnishes the companies reputation. Not a single one of which is professional or could be considered acceptable from a business representative.

To try and simplify: Any user backlash was due to errors on the part of Crunchyroll's running of the event... These errors, if they had been acknowledged or rectified, could have been accepted as a simple mistake and the event would have remained positive... The additional backlash is now directly caused by intentional actions, which serve only amplify the previous errors and create new and more far reaching consequences, all of which are negative.

And my apologies, but it is unlikely I will reply to any further posts, I do not have the time. Though I may checked to see if this situation was equitably resolved. Good luck to users and staff both. Be well.

Eh, I only clicked on this for the cat display

Yeah that was one funky looking cat. Too bad about the contest, but I was only interested in the weird cat pic.

Please do us all a favor, do a little research before commenting negatively, had you but read the last few posts you might have realised this whole mess was crunchyroll's fault and this post unfairly targets the 2 users victimised, by CR's mess up, as the guilty party. Not only that no cat fight ever happened, people talked it out and CR took quite a while to even acknoledge any error, so people being a bit irrate is to be expected. If you dont believe me check the contest winners post its directly under this post on the main page.

It's easy to jump to conclusions without reading the whole story. That's what this thread was fabricated for or somehow became so. CR basically tried to turn everyone against a few people, putting the blame of a single contest gone somewhat wrong into something that could have been completely adverted. I urge everyone, as said numerous times to try and read around. It's actually more simple than it really looks. Yeah it's long and somewhat boring, but there's tons of things different people have to say about this matter. People were hurt, some have spoken out; others haven't.

@Zol_Grimm

I don't see the confusion. There is a post on the front page that lists the winners. Apparently people didn't do their research and look at the site to see who won. Then they caused a fit and now CR isn't doing anymore contests like this. How is that not a few bad apples ruining the bunch?

Also, why are you so sensitive about this? Were you one of the bickerers who clearly lost but raised a fit and now feel the need to defend yourself? If not, then why do you care so much?

Is that your way of paraphrasing the whole situation that has happened? That a few bad apples ruined for the bunch? All you had to do was read past the first 2 pages of negative comments on this thread to see what really happened. Those people who made negative comments did not read the whole thread about how the winners were chosen and that there was a complete mishap. CR's failure to handle the problem in a professional and timely manner was brought to light.

The first two pages is people saying "lol @ a cat fight" and Zol_Grimm going on some epic rant about how everyone is mistaken and needs do more research. Assuming that their is some reasonable explanation, at the end of the day it's still undeniable that people caused a ruckus because they didn't win and now CR won't do contests like this anymore. Maybe calling them bad apples is harsh (although that's a pretty soft term imo but whatever) but at the end of the day a small group of people ruined these contests for the everyone else. "A few bad apples spoils the bunch" is fitting imo.

It starts adding up towards the end of Moderator Kippu's post. If you're new to this whole thread and just read the first page, you'd totally assume that this whole mess was brought on by two people. In actuality, the two people had worked it out in PMs prior to this, yet michana still created this thread to scapegoat the contest.
