my friend introduced me to manga by letting borrow a shonen jump magazine back when I was in middle school which I believe started when I was approximately 12 or 13 years old. Although I haven't read much manga these days because I have lost interested in them since they started to put them online which kills the excited of the part where it said to be continue at the good part of the manga just waiting to buy the next volume.

What got me to read manga was that i was searching for more episodes of suzuka but i couldnt find any. Someone online ended up telling me that the anime was cancelled or something like that but that i could still read the manga online. At the time i had absolutely no idea what manga was but once i found the manga for suzuka i read the whole thing in like a week and at the same time fell in love with manga.

I was about 9 years old and I wanted to know more about DBZ at the time. Mostly, the art was a major inspiration.

Hm. It's interesting how everyone's story is different, I thought almost everybody's would start from anime, not from a whim. xD Well, you never know.
I don't know how much far back in the past this goes, but ever since I was little, I grew up watching dubbed anime because of my brother. Mostly Pokemon. Sometimes Yugioh and DBZ. I wasn't really interested in it at the time, but somewhere in between elementary school, my brother introduced me to Naruto. We used to watch it all the time, and sometimes with my childhood friend. I dropped it after a while, about a few episodes into Shippunden (lost interest). I watched american cartoons after that. Some cartoon reminded me of Naruto, so I watched it on a whim.<---- (Still in elementary school) I couldn't wait for more episodes and I wanted more. So I started watching the rest of the big three (about in junior high). I vaguely knew what manga was, and I eventually found out after watching D. Gray-man. I started reading the manga because I wanted to know what's next. And that started the chain reaction. Now, I'm an otaku. Still a noob one though.
=w= Ah. Me and my long paragraphs.

I got inter manga after finishing both Hajime no Ippo's series and Sazuka nearly at the same time. Neither seemed complete when they ended so I searched up the mangas. Sazuka kinda disappointed me how it ended but Im glad that it doesnt seem to be going the same way with Kimi no Iru Machi. I ended up reading a massive amount of manga online and a lot of the series I really enjoyed I bought at different stores like Barnes and Noble and Borders. I always see it better to try something first before buying rather than wasting money on something you will never watch or read or listen to.

My friend was reading a "comic book" with cute kitty-people in it, I looked over her shoulder and was like "Oooohhh kitties!!"

That comic turned out to be a manga called Loveless. So yup.

I actually got into manga before anime. Go figure.
