Distant Friendship
Posted 2/2/12
Having friends you can relate to and have similar interests in is always a plus, especially online.

However don't rely only on online friends, be sure to mix it up with RL ones as well. It's fun to run around in-person too. ^+^

They don't last very long. Plus, it's easy to lose contact.

Yeah, since I move around alot anyways most of my real life friends become distant friends either way.

Like I mentioned before in another topic, it's possible but it depends on the honesty of the other person. I'm always myself online, good, bad, lame, whatever. But you never really know where the other person is coming from.

And to answer your question, yes I like making random friends online. I walk up to random people all the time in real life, so why not on the internet? Some develop into good friends, yet other stay acquaintance. The internet is just one other way to make new friends, and it has the advantage of letting you make friends all over the world; even to places you probably will never be able to visit.

Although one other thing....I'm okay with random friend requests but please unless I've been going back and forth with you on forums and kind of know you, let me know why you're adding me. Sometimes its like where'd you come from o_O

Yeah, I'm part of the minority of people who thinks of net friends pretty much like friends I have in real life. I've just always liked making friends. It's just nice to get to know people with the same interests (since the people around me in real life think I'm a 'weird' one for having such "STRANGE" interests.)

But online friendships aren't so simple. I guess it depends on if you and the person you want to befriend are serious about being 'friends' online. Some people just want to meet people with the same interests so they can talk about them.
I'm just happy that the good friends I've made online accept me for what I truly am.

I like to make internet friends. Some of them, though, don't stick around for long. I have a few friends who have stuck with me, and I can even consider them like best friends to me.

I've met one person through the internet that I've made friends with. We started talking here on CR when I was 17 and we got really close. Now I'm 21 and she's one of my best friends. We've never actually met but I'm planning on visiting her soon.
