If I'm in a good mood, I'll listen to them rant. But if I just don't feel like talking, I'll just tell them to shut up.

I know someone who rants about anything and when he gets his way... he tries to find something else to rant about... I think he enjoys it...

Another thing I'm wondering about is.. do you guys/girls rant to each other? Like do you have rant buddies whom you meet maybe once every three days or so and it would seem like all you would do is unconsciously/consciously rant to each other about the things that happened the past few days of both of your lives, never really listening to each other or arriving at anything and then say goodbye till the next rant meet up?

That's why you have best female friend and best male friend for. To confide in each other or so.

i don't
and personally, i don't think that's healthy for your mind. If all you talk about is negative things, then you'll have a negative personality too in no times. Why would you wana do that to yourself? It's better to have a positive attitude towards life.

I think confidence is different from ranting. I dont usually rant to my best male/female friends. Most of the times, when its with them, its the silence that speaks. And when we talk, we usually don't talk about petty negative things, unless its a close female friend, in which case its her who usually does all the ranting and I just listen.

Confidence is more like... saying things that you dont usually say to people because it exposes the vulnerable side of you. But ranting is usually just plain rambling about negative trivial things in life that don't really have much value except they piss you off.

I'm usually a quiet guy but is different in certain environments
e.g school = quiet, outside = not too loud, not too quiet
however, i rarely rant, if i do, its usually like for only a second and i usually keep what i feel to myself o.o
keeping stuff to myself gets irritating at times when i reach near my "limit" but i manage :]

Eh it doesn't bother me much. Just shows they're just as emotional & argumentative like women. As long as they're not ranting at me.

I think this post is a little sexist towards women, because ranting is something men are predisposed to also. It's a human thing and the reason for it mind you I'm no expert but it's just my opinion is that people who have an issue with something and can't find a way out will vent their spleen about it. There all talk and no action nor will they even become appeased with their circumstances and just accept. Believe me I know a little about ranting (brother) and the best thing to do is spill it out and to also listen to the verbal regurgitation from another and assure them your listening saying things like "I see" and "uh mm". It's wrong to tell someone there overreacting with their emotions they have a right to feel how they want just say something that reflects how they feel like "seems your pissed off by this". From there and when they've said enough you can give them options if you have any.

Edit: Hmm? There was a reason for it being sexist. Anyways.
