Damaging school property. Vandalism is vandalism regardless of you does it. Just because shes a young girl doesn't exempt her from the law. Let her stay in Juve for a couple hours, what's the harm? She learns her lesson, and just about everyone in that school will think twice before they write something stupid on a desk.

That kind of thinking can get you killed. Law or not. Each person has a brain and wasting precious money to fund a girl to go to jail for 2 hours doesn't count as helping or stopping her from writing on more desks in the future. Police probably has nothing better to do but throw a young girl into jail since they caught her red handed writing on a desk. Many highschools has desks that are doodled on but nobody gets arrested. This just goes to show how society can go from smart to stupid in less than a second.

Your right, each person does have a brain. That girl should have been using hers instead of writing on a desk. Sure, the police could have been out catching real criminals, but they caught a little girl doodling on a desk. But none the less, she could have prevented it by not drawing on a desk.

Really? Wow. People write on everything here. It seems like I can't go five feet without seeing some sort of vandalism. I don't even live in the 'ghetto'. It just seems a little weird that one person was arrested for doing it.

it's vandalism...If everyone abided by the law the world would be a better place :)

Yeah, the world would be a better place if everyone stopped writing on their desks in school.

If it was me I'd lock her up for 1 week....cause it's not cool...Kids think to many things are cool now a days...

quote for the article: Gonzalez says of the incident, “I definitely learned not to ever draw on a desk. They told me with a pencil this could still happen.”<-----lesson learned lol.

Although all people that doodled on the desks have not been caught, what makes this girl any special? You think the police came in the class, hiding on the side and caught this girl writing on the desk and they on their right mind thinks its a good idea to take her to prison for two hours instead of giving her a less strict warning (i.e. writing apology papers, clean the desk after school, so forth.)

I agree it could have been handled better. Unfortunately for that girl, it wasn't. Possibly they were making an example out of her. I don't know. But what trauma is this girl going to recieve for spending some time in juve? She won't die. If she gets a criminal record, that could be a problem for future enployment. I'm sure her parents are dealing with it in a manner that won't result in that. Although once you go to a detention center, you pretty much gain a criminal record whether it's fair or not. That's your tax dollars at work though.

I think it's funny. Learn from this mistake children, no matter how good you were up till now the justice system is taking any shit, so pipe the fuck down and behave, you little bastards.
Seriously, do I feel sorryfor her? a litte, the punishment was a bit harsh, but in the end can she complain? She did commit the felony.

Just another reason to press for government interference. Think outside the box, this is not about the girl. This is about the police gaining more control over us.
