That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I don't see the actually story, but if she was handed down a guilty verdict by a judge, that judge must have a stick up their butt. I mean, come on! Just ridiculous.

that's the way it works for petty crimes

everyone does it but they can't go arresting hundreds everyday now for trivial things, too much paperwork/resources
else nobody would ever speed

they catch who they can every now and then to set an example and hope everyone will learn from it--it's just extra bullshit that someone had to serve jailtime (even if it's only 2 hrs) for writing something as harmless as name + name BFFs

if they didn't put her in jail, imagine what the girl will think.. "oh they woudnt mind if i wrote then maybe i should vandalize the whole building then".

punishments are there to make people realize their mistakes

It is vandalism and vandalism should not be taken lightly as my mother has taken a course in Human psychology and she says that big things could start from a small thing, just as small as writing on your desk....

It's called vandalism fools!!!

You say, it would be okay for people to write on your house and you be fine with that? Yeah, that's what I thought. School owns that desk. Of course! Plus, I find it annoying when I sit on a desk and it has a bunch of writings on it! Annoying!

you know how many things I wrote on the school days before I graduated? LMFAO. And it wasnt something that would come off easy too, because I would also use sharp things to carve into the desks haha good ol' days

Five bucks (US Dollars) says her parents wanted her to learn a lesson, and let her sit in juvenile hall for 2 hours. I know she will think twice about vandalism. Way to go parents!

dude writing on desk? you can wash it out =_= and pluss of all places.. it had to be new york LOL
you know my school is sooo strict but even the teachers dont call cops to arrest kids who writes on desks.. they only stay after school to wash it oke so writing on desks is wrong but still.. they went to far with the cops 8)
