Money gives you the illusion of friends...if someone acts as your friend because you have money then they are not a true friend

i think money could make friends if for instance one gives to the other in hard times and the other appreciates it and returns the favor but in the same way it could make fake friends who only want your money. i think money could show at times how much they mean to you or visa versa but it shouldn't have to be there for some one to be ur friend.

for me if some one cared enough to give me money when i needed it i would consider that an act of friendship that they were willing to but some ppl might just see it as free money. i would consider it an insult if some one just gave me money to make me think they were my friend though.

Well, many of you have stated that money gives fake friends. I agree but I look back at a debate I participated in when I was a little younger, money can buy anything vs money cannot buy anything. I remember one of my opponents answering that question by saying, "A dog is a man's best friend." Pretty wise, huh? but when referring to human friends, apparently, money cannot be a reason for a person to be your friend.

literally it could make friends :P
just kidding.

Well when you ask that question it seem so broad, true money does make the world go round because modern day society actually establish that (instead of barter trade and all that crap i shouldnt be going into). But friends is not something you want to 'buy' with money as there can almost never be a true friend later
sure like Shin-rei-kun says it can help friendship if you spend time in cinemas, amusement parks or trips etc but thats all I can think really... also if you have noticed, whenever money is involve with friendship it is usually backed up by the time and meaning behind it (like you spend time together or help a friend in a difficult situation).

as for being rich and have tons of 'friends' swarming around you?
not worth it.... to be honest I am a little shy so I would hate that instead
sure it might be a nice feeling to be recognised and respected (if thats the right word) but it will only get you so far :/
