LOL at being slender from standing...

I'm sure it's just a combination of everything. I'm sure other countries are also comparable (obviously not America though).

They have done numerous scientific studies on this. All of them point to an overall healthier diet, as Mcdonalds and various other places have become more popular the rate of obesity has risen sharply in Japan too.

It's the driving culture in the US, primarily, that makes Americans fatter. It's not just Japanese that have NORMAL BODY FAT (they are not slim, they are normal; Americans are obese pigs, and that coming from an american), most Europeans countries despite loving beef, have half the obesity rate of the US. Check it out... Obesity by Country.
O.K. maybe it's not all due to rolling your rotund slab of blubber into the car just to go 100 meters to buy some carbonated high fructose corn syrup with food coloring, water and laboratory flavors (or an even better form of exercise; walking to the front door to pick up your delivered trough sludge). The difference between the Japanese diet and the European diet, is mainly, seafood vs red meat.

But to compare the US to Europe, shows what's wrong. Though Europeans have cars, they also have decently funded public transport, the TGV, ITC, trams, etc. In the US, public transport is a poorly funded afterthought (compare what China is spending on High Speed Rail to catch up and surpass Europe, compared to the US). And at the dinner table, Americans crave fast food convenience, while Europeans prefer the civility of slow foods (a home cooked meal).

My Brother has been to Kurashiki for a Karate tournament and he said most of the food he saw on the market was mostly Western style, they had burgers and stuff...but he said from what he saw, that exercise was a part of eveyrday life, like in the office they'd do sit ups on their breaks and stuff and sit on Pilates Balls instead of chairs, sitting on a ball helps core strength (core strength being the center of your body, if your strong here your strong everywhere) and its just little things like that. They manage to fit exercise into their everyday routine no matter what.

I think parts of Japan is westernize, and I google Kurashiki, and it was the first place to have a western museum.

Thanks for the information, and I like how Europe band GMO product. I think eating a tomato cross with a flounder fish DNA is weird and gross. >o<

Interesting case study. I do not like how McDonald is all over the world, because their food is unhealthy. I admitted I grew up eating their food, but I stop because I never really like their food, except I like the French fries. Now I do not like eating there anymore, and I just rather have roast red potato with garlic and rosemary, it tastes a lot better ^ o ^.

I understand what you are talking about, because I know some girls say that they need to lose weight, when they are probably a size 1 or 0.

LOL - Japanese are just better. That's all - you need not worry your FAT western asses about it any longer, and just accept the truth.

Look at how you already worship their cartoons and comic books. You call it "Anime" or "Manga" like its high-art or something.

Their robots, their food, their women, their toys, their cars, the list could go on. You name name it and some fat, pale western kid will develop a fetish for it - as long as it looks like it's 'authentic Japanese'.

Face it. Give up. You'll never be what they are. (or at least what they are to you in your eyes)

By the gods! I love CR!

I do not think any country is always better than another one in everything, because every country has good and bad side. We are all human beings with good intentions and flaws. I do not mean to say something bad about Japanese, but the Toyota cars are being recall, and this is a sample Japanese are human beings like every one else. People make mistakes, and it is common in every ones lives. Westerns have good cartoons, and anime/manga is a Japanese term that Japanese created to call their animation.

Thats a stereotype. Perhaps you may believe Japanese have slim bodies because the media portrays such things.

I am not silly and if Japan is a perfect country than they would not have experiences what the rest of the world have like wars, high unemployment rate, and in war world II they had a shortage of food, which they had to surrender. No offense, but you should take a history class. Every country has to go through bad and good times. Light up. ^ o ^

Slim body or a more normal body?

There are so many factors that play into USA's obesity problem it's not even funny. But, first and foremost it's the food. Look at the prices of meat in the USA and look at prices of meat in other countries. Meat is much more expensive in other countries. The price difference has a lot to do with subsidies and lifestyle (gasoline is much cheaper in the USA than it is overseas as well).

The USA is unique in the fact you need a car to get everywhere unless you own a bike in Portland or live in NYC (only good subway system in the USA). Sure you can take our craptacular public transport system, but it'll take hours more to get to your location, unless our the rush hour balances it out. Even going out to places around my work, a lot of my coworkers take cars if they need to go any place further than a block away. Very few people take the stairs when moving between a floor or three. There's just a high level of laziness in American society.

Bad food (or lots of tasty food) + lazy people = obesity problems.

Well I am not saying that every Japanese has a slim body, but I think their the mean of Japan would have a slimmer body. The main part of this forum is that does standing help people to be slimmer, and I notice that Japan has many stands that a person eat while they stand. Maybe I was not being clear about the forum, and I notice every country has slimmer people versus less slimmer people.
