Why would you need to decontaminate your own urine? All of the bacteria and other such things are native to your body so you shouldn't have any health issues there.

You couldn't be more wrong. Although I would agree that urine is relatively sterile, just because something is native to your body does not mean there's no health issues. Human feces for example are actually filled with dangerous bacteria, viruses and occasionally parasites. Hepatitis A and E are commonly transfered through feces. Consuming that could leave you really really sick.

This is also one of the main reasons why countries with bad hygiene and no sewage have a much lower life expectancy.

I've tasted a drop once to have a taste... It wasn't bad at all, tasted a lot like I'd imagined...

The guy on man vs. wild did.

and Urine is sterile the moment it comes out of you(but over time gathers bacteria), if you were to handle an injured person who is in shock and they are bleeding and peeing on you, it's best to just have just pee on you, cause you have no idea whats in their blood.

You know there's a reason we piss that stuff out, it's waste, putting it back into your system really isn't a great idea.

. I like a nice chilled Chardonnay myself, but it is sterile and hikers use it to cleanse and heal blisters, etc...
