Dragon Ball Z Kai on Nicktoons?
Posted 3/16/10
So you've herd of Nicktoons, right? It's a channel created by Nickelodeon that runs all of their older or newer cartoons such as Ren and Stimpy, Invader Zim, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and so on.

Apparently, Nickelodeon has decided to allow Dragon Ball Z Kai on their network block, which will premiere May of this year. I guess they've realized how popular Naruto Shippuden was doing on Disney XD,and decided to jump on board the viewer train. Remember people, viewers+raitings=money.

And, if you're still skeptical of this claim, take a look for yourself:

They're also adding Voltron to the lineup, though they haven't said if it would be Japanese animated or not. So what are your thoughts?

well cartoon network dropped the ball yet again on this one, 1st they let Disney get the license rights to naruto and now they let one of the most highly rated shows they ever go to another station. I know that kai is a remake of the original dbz but I am sure that it would have pulled enough numbers to keep it on their station. All of that aside that's fine with me I am just happy to see more anime on cable that I can watch in hd instead of having to stream all the time. To answer your question orbit voltron is an anime just a very old one from the 80's it aired around the time tunder cats and he-man was on t.v. in the states.

Well, since this is a children's network, I believe there will be censors.

hate to break it to ya but db kai is already censored in japan so it will not be much of change,. I have seen some of kai and there is not where the amount of blood and gore that the original had I think that they are just wanting to boost up reasons for the dvd sales, in which case I will pass since I have all of dbz on dvd and that cost me a damn arm and leg to do.

it seems that CN has lost or is losing interest in anime

nowadays I'm thinking they're even losing interest in toons as well because of all the live action they put on

well dbz on nicktoons is better than no dbz on tv at all

I was surprised as heck when they started showing Kekkaishi. I thought I would not see another new anime on Adult Swim anytime in the foreseeable future.

As for the live programming, this is endemic of all specialty networks. Most here are too young to remember when MTV really was music television, but some may be young enough to remember when you could tune in the Headline News at anytime and actually see news.

I've been watching the japanese airing of DBZK for a while now and it's really not that different from the original airing, all they did was cut scenes together to make it closer to the manga's pace and got rid of a bunch of the extra crap that got added into the first run. I'm not sure what you mean by the blood and gore since the series didn't really have much beyond the odd bloody lip/nose or bloody welts from getting punched. Even the original airing with the androids when yamcha got run through wasn't THAT gory and it was the same with kai's version.
Though with it being on a station like nicktoons I can't immagine it being uncut in the least. hopefully though they won't make it like pioneer's initial release...
Though a friend told me they ruined piccolo's voice for the american version of kai. Can anyone comment about that?

My friend just told me he aparrently did a bad job with the new dub so I thought to ask since I don't have cable lol. Then again I still like the first voice cast for DBZ. Piccolo's voice was SO much better with that dub. Scott McNeil did a great job imo. Just a shame they stopped at the ginyu fight with their dub cast

well scott mcneail was with ocean dubs which was a partner group with pioneer at the time, then he went to viz and was the voice of koga on inuyasha for god who knows how long, he stopped along time ago on dbz when pioneer dropped the licesne and funimation picked it up back in the late 90's early 2000's

Right, i've heard his voice in various games and anime and just thought he did a vastly superior job as piccolo
