I've just been thinking more about an ongoing hypothesis. Despite what some may think, there is a standard personality that either we or our potential creators have provided us with. And it seems like, if you're different from that norm (note all the people on Youtube who will give you a shit-load of compliments if you put out a music video that isn't like a lot of others you've seen) they'll praise you just for that reason. Is it right to do that? It may or may not be. It may be for 2 out of I'm not sure how many reasons - (1) there was never supposed to be a standard, and we are promoting justice or (2) if there was supposed to be a standard, we were partly put here to change what has already been done. In contrast, there may be reasons why we SHOULDN'T be different as far as personality goes, and the 2 I can think of (again, there are potentially billions of other reasons) are just the opposite of the ones I mentioned before. If I'm sure about anything, it's that a lot of us do have different personality types.
I like to think I have a generally good idea as to what makes a person good or bad; I think a good person tries to help others and themselves, while a bad person tries to hurt. I believe a person should only be complimented on doing something good, and if they aren't doing something good, there is no point, so it irritates me to be congratulated on being DIFFERENT as I'm sure everyone is from time to time. It also can help to boost up an ego that doesn't need it. But, again, I'm not sure purposely being different isn't a good thing to do..it's very irritating.
