undoubtedly, yes. what we should be ashamed about are those people that downsize our country because they're not proud to be one.

Damn proud to be Pinay~! ;D It's even funny how you can talk about people near you when they don't understand a thing I say. Haha!! I've been living in the States for almost five years, FYI.

Proud Pinay here! American-Filipina. Representing in the state of Hawaii. I'm not ashamed of being Filipino, even when in times we are looked down on. There is the racial stereotyping of, we eat black dog and billy goat + contribute to the teenage pregnancy. We are picked on because of our smaller stature, we are hustled for our money. They make fun of our heavy accents; they call us buk buk, booklet, fob. There is one thing they love about us, though, for it is known on the island... We Filipinos are hard workers. You can count on us to landscape, paint, build your house, clean your house, cook your food. With Filipinos in general, we have strong family values. Gathering around the table for dinner with my family, blessing our meals, is one of the things I love about being Filipino... We are loving people, despite the corruption of our government said through the media.
I enjoy being Filipino. Proudly with our black dog, billy goat, balut, pancit, lumpia, halo halo, tuyo, stinky bagoong... Other cultures love our food! My Mom's Samoan coworker knows how to cook pinakbet, she wanted to learn from her Filipino coworkers and has perfected it. It's really not so bad living in Hawaii as a Filipino.

I'm proud to be Filipino. I'm living in USA for a year with my Filipino husband who changed his citizenship to join the military. My 1st son was born in the Phil and my 2nd was born in USA. All 3 of them are American citizen. Being in USA has many pros. I can help my family way back in the Philippines. Staying here gives me an opportunity to create a better living for my 3 siblings living in the Phil.
When time comes, I will choose to be dual citizen. That way, I will still be connected to my country in heart and I can visit my family without limitations of going back to USA asap. Yes, I agree that Filipinos are very hard working and have close family ties..
My connection to my family has never been better since I got here. They know I can help them in times of need. That's what I and my husband did recently. We are very proud that we love our family so as being a Filipino..
