...i only saw a thread about it in one of other sites

This is a law intended to ban all sexual behaviors of fictional characters who LOOK below 18. Don't tell me how they're going to judge but if this is true, not only it will be the end of yaoi (as not only are the shota pron in danger but the whole genre of school yaoi will DIE) and imagine just what size that will be. In addition, Naruto, Reborn, Code Geass, and basically 99% of manga will perish with this law because characters who are fighting there are definitely below 18. The tricky thing about this law is that they're not really advertising the law, it's not on the news and nobody except a very small proportion of people even know about it.

If they pass that shit piece of law (which is likely at this moment because many people, even Japanese, don't know about the law so they don't even have a chance to oppose to the law), it'll be DOOMSDAY really for me because imagine reading manga WITHOUT ANY CHARACTER LOOKING BELOW 18????

even if this law wont happen....wat will happen to you if this law is officially aproved?

ahh...
manga without characters 18 below is boring,
i like manga because i can somewhat relate to the situations happening to them like their foolishness or whatsoever and they are teenagers but if this law will be approved, i can't imagine my self reading mangas with those characters older than the author..lolx

Nah Japan will be basically killing one of its industries and the social and economic problems it will cause will be HUGE. Plus Japan has lax censoring laws compared to most western countries and I see no reason why they would suddenly change.

So basically, the safeheaven for Otakus everywhere will still be around.

I think you all have misunderstood - from what i read "This is a law intended to ban all sexual behaviors".

if this is the case, then they are not removing under 18s from Anime and Manga that would be ridiculous as nearly all Anime/Manga the protagonist is under 18 (Bleach, Naruto, D.Gray-Man, Rave Master etc....) - it seems they are just trying to ban sexual behaviour between characters under the age of 18, which is a perfectly understandable law

Since when is fighting sexual?
Jello wrestling maybe, but manga fights are usually not.

Don't worry ^.^
Anime, manga and the Otaku world will always find another way back to the surface.
We're like rats, try killing us and we'll multiply.

Every time I find something I like (Anime in general) someone's trying to slam the door in my face! The whole face of Anime will be heavily affected by this legislation. I think it's the politician's chronic need to pass bills for the sake of doing the job, not that the Japanese economy would be heavily affected by this.

You anime fanatics truly tickle me.

The only people who find this terrible are the few people who actually give a crap, everyone else are busy going on with their lives. Before you know it, shota fans are going to jump out of their windows because they canceled Boku no Piko.

It's not the end of the world. There are more important things to worry about then things like this. The Health Reform Bill, Global Warming, Haiti, Child Abuse, things that matter and can help us improve not only our lives, but humanity.

>>implying that this does not apply to any anime like negima, love hina, chobits, naruto, dragon ball z, gurren lagan, rozen maiden, when they cry, azumanga daioh, and so on and so on. It states in the law that no characters and appear OR be under the age of 18 thus well destroying the entire market but meh I don't really care anymore.

lulz i am too and it won't pass, it's to over board to do so. If they want to ban loli and shota porn go ahead I am all for that now and really don't care if they do, but the weird thing I have also caught up on this law is that they are restricting access for any under the age of 18 to the internet via cell pones and computers and to watch anime as, saying it leads to suicide. Which I guess I can under-stand the suicide part because otakus have a really hard time in school and are hugely picked (just for liking anime period)on but this is no way to cover it up the problem. Also this law is only in affect for Tokyo and not the rest of Japan if it does pass, the studios would just move some where else and go from there. With that I am done peace out.
