Dead Marine's father ordered to pay protesters' legal costs
Posted 3/31/10
So as a title says a father has to pay legal cost for the Westboro Baptist Church, because of picketing at the funeral of dead marine.

"By the court making this decision, they're not only telling me that they're taking their side, but I have to pay them money to do this to more soldiers and their families," said Albert Snyder, whose son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, was killed in action in Iraq in 2006.

Members of the fundamentalist church based in Topeka, Kansas, appeared outside Snyder's funeral in 2006 in Westminster, Maryland, carrying signs reading "You're going to hell," "God hates you" and "Thank God for dead soldiers."

Among the teachings of the church, which was founded in 1955 by pastor Fred Phelps, is the belief that God is punishing the United States for "the sin of homosexuality" through events such as soldiers' deaths.

this is bit of an article that I will link here In moment, all I have to say is that I am disgusted by this really really disgusted. The Westboro Baptist Church hates America but still hides behind the corrupt legal system to get the hate speech and agenda tosses around. What are you comments on this ??

2 things i have to say. first, lawyers are bastards for doing things like this. second, it is plain FUCKED UP to picket a funeral. what the hell is up with that? if i saw picketers at my bro's funeral i'd go over and beat the shit out of every last one of them. that is so rude at a time of mourning i hope the supreme court drops the hammer on people who do stupid stuff like this. my condolences to the father, i feel bad for that guy, saw the interview. props to bill o reilly for offering to pay the 16,000$ fee for the family.

I've read about this, the people who does that are attention craving a**holes, if you ask me, i cant believe people actually believe in what they're saying, that soldiers who offer their life for their country are being punished, seriously. i doubt anyone of those pricks would dare to say that in front of a bunch of marines who aren't held back by security/police, and i would guess almost every single one of those cops/Security would like to ''accidentally'' drop one of them through.
I'm from Sweden and i have to admit, I'm not a big fan of the U.S but i have to say the hatred i feel against those people are overwhelming.
Sorry in advance if anyone else than those pricks are offended

Pretty much this... and really he offered that? Well good on him.

I skimmed the article and I still don't understand why he is being forced to pay or how they can make him do so.

hmm... I'd probably just get everyone I know together to protest the leaders existence and protest them wherever they go (freedom of speach and civil rights... ) two can play at that game

I don't care what your opinions are on war etc, you'd don't protest someones funeral... I'm surprised it didn't get messy when they did.

edit: trimmed cause I was making a quote pyramid

That cult has been around for way too long. Bunch of inbred hick dipshits, If they were to picket at a funeral I was attending I'd hurl a fucking grenade at their crowd. That or douse then in kerosene and set them on fire. I'm not a law man, freedom of speech means nothing to me.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that, beating them with your own two hands would feel much better than just torching them.

The father was the one to bring up the origional lawsuit, and it costed the people picketting money, and so it overturned and the picketers reversed the lawsuit and sued the father for infringing their freedom of speech

Are you f***ing kidding me?

I hate these sick twisted baptist church people I can't believe that the court would do that, these ppl have no right to do what they are doing and the fact that he has to pay them...that make me sick.

I personally think the judge got it wrong this time - the protesters' signs and message weren't free speech, but hate speech deliberately targeting homosexuals and military service members.

Unfortunately using physical education methods (that is, beating them silly) while satisfying generally leads folks like this to feel vindicated, since they're "being persecuted for their beliefs". I could wish however that involuntary conscription was an option - it would be entertaining to draft these gentle folks and let them discover just what it means to put yourself in harm's way for their variety of "free speech".

I wouldn't allow my hands to be soiled by the filthy blood of these sub-humans... I'd have no qualms using a bat though...
