Okay, as a disclaimer. I DO NOT have hatred toward the Japanese people whatsoever!
Nor do I have any reason for me to harbor any feelings against the Japanese population at all.
In fact, some of my closest friends are Japanese.

Recently, the Japanese government included in their Elemetary textbooks that Korea was unlawfully occupying Dokdo. And apparently, it is the land of the Japanese people and they wanted to raise awareness among their children.

However, the fact that the Japanese government is unlawfully claiming Dokdo as their land is just...bullshit.
The Japanese call it Takeshima...

So there are reasons why Korea is furious of this...

When the Japanese first occupied Korea, it started from Dokdo, so their action of claiming it as theirs is not only offensive but also a symbolic renewal of preposterous empire that they had before.
-- so no matter how many times the Japanese attempt to apologize for their war crimes during WWII, an action like this is just like spitting in someone's face after you bowed down and apologized to them.

Dokdo is currently under Korean governmental rule (Koreans are living in it and there is a Korean military base in it.) and it has been since Korea even existed.

The Japanese claim that after the Russo-Japanese war, the rights to that land have been nulled by Korea (this is the most bullshit claim of them all)

Even worse, the Japanese government labels the islands as Korea's lands in several historical maps and recent ones as well.

The only reason the Japanese wants these islands is because there are oil reefs and abundant wild fisheries that they can use.

But to us Koreans, the islands mean MUCH x 1000000000 more to us than that.

I just wanted to inform people of these facts to people in crunchyroll.

So please, i'm not asking you to do anything but just know that it's Korea's land and no other country can claim it.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it mate, the chances are if they tried to seize it off you it would outrage the diplomatic community and I seriously doubt they'd be willing to risk that.

Governments changing historical facts and whatnot in school curriculums is nothing new, most countries do it. They do it here in the UK, for example we have nothing in our curriculum about the American War of independance/Revolution (depending on which side of the fence you're sat on), and in some American schools they gloss over the fact that the war was not entirely Britain's fault. etc etc.

I use this as an example not to start a warzone on this thread (So please, don't), but to show that altering facts, ignoring facts and other such things are common everywhere children are taught. It's propoganda, nothing more. Ignorance is universal, and quite often openly encouraged.

Also look at the Falklands now, because there are rumours of oil being found there Argentina suddenly want it, ahem, 'back' (Even though they've never had any kind of legitimate claim to it other than 'it's geographically close'). It's all just resource grabbing and political grandstanding, and as bad as it sounds, it's often best to just ignore it, because as always the people in power will do as they see fit, with or without our blessing. All we can do is learn things for ourselves and as a result form our own, more informed opinions instead of blindly believing something because you read it in school or saw it on the news.

^ I can't sum it up any better than that. That's just the way countries have always worked. If you do a little research, all countries shift what's in their textbooks in their favor. There's a hilarious amount of that between American and English history like this guy said^. Its just their way of saving face. S. Korea's armed forces are much stronger than Japans if that makes you feel better, they need to be ready to take on those nuts to the North. And I doubt Japan has functioning gundams... yet... lol. Even though I doubt they'd ever be at war. Fighting. lol. xD

Mmmm, Gundams...

If they had those I think it would be a case of :
"Here, have the islands, and here's a complimentary Christmas hamper... Please don't hurt us..."
