This show is weird to me. There are a lot of little touches of American things in it but then someone will do a super Japanese thing and it feels strange. Teen Titans pulled off the mix of american cartoon with anime art style but this one isn't doing it as smoothly imo.

Plus the story seems super basic and not all that interesting. I'll watch 2 or 3 more episodes before deciding to drop it though.

However, is there really any need to over-expose this series, simply because the next episode is airing? (1) No, its just shameless promotion.

(2)Really, theres a thread for Heroman episode 2 on the mainpage, and now one for the Naruto double header, so why isn't there one for other series, like Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao or Reborn, or every other simulcast...

(3) From what I can tell, Heroman is not anymore popular than other simulcasts... Infact, going by the number of fans/comments on the pages, its less popular... This thread is probably the result of CR paying too much for an anime that simply isn't being loved by the anime community. This site is for Asian content and culture, we want anime, not cartoons.

(1) The whole point of this site is streaming anime. Promoting streaming anime isn't shameless... it's just a logical thing to do given what CR is.

(2) Naruto is probably the most popular show on this site, that's why it can get up here

(3) I feel like this whole thing should have "*note: there is no factual basis for anything that I'm saying" written by it. CR knows exactly how many times a show has been streamed. I'll trust their findings more than yours.

I'm not sure why you're so butt hurt over all of this to begin with. Don't like, don't watch.

No, fail show. Who wants to watch a boy with lack of confidence control a toy that somehow became a giant toy with eyes attack random aliens? Get better shows!

(1) Yes, streaming anime. This is technically an anime, but conceptually, it is not. Of course promoting it isn't shameless, but the method in which it is done is. It's basically saying "Oh look, we've got episode 2 of some anime by a big name creator, go watch it now." If people wanted to watch it, they probably would of already checked it out (or have planned to).

(2) Of course Naruto is. Having the double header is a good enough reason to have it on the announcement page (I guess...), but it does not have to be said in 2-3+ different announcements, all on the front page - 1 is enough (which should have been the thread about the delay)... And anyway, even Naruto usually doesn't have a thread for an individual episode, so why should the way less popular Heroman get one?

(3) Yes, CR knows exactly how many times it has been streamed, hence this thread... Anyone with some form intelligence could see that the reason for this thread is most likely the lack of views, for a title which CR wasted a big proportion of the Spring budget on... You say you'd trust their findings, however none have been published. Sure, they refer to it as an "overnight success", but then they also say they will have over 50% of all currently airing, non-childrens anime, when by almost every method of counting, they have less than 35%.

And you say I had no factual basis? I do not have the amount of views, but when comparing Heroman to Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao - the only Spring anime CR has aired this season, the results are definitely not in Heroman's favor.

Heroman - 313 fans, 22 comments. 306 comments on episode 1.
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao - 641 fans, 26 comments. 303 comments on episode 1.

The number of comments compared to fans suggest that people are finding Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao more entertaining, and are more likely to continue to watch the anime. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao probably shouldn't even be used as a benchmark, as its also being simulcast on another legal site at around the same time for free.

By no means do I hate the show, and I even said the first episode was decent... What I'm angry about has nothing to do with Heroman itself, but to CRs approach to the promotion of Heroman (and their false advertising for the Spring season).

I like it the show is pretty awsome so far. A change of pace for me and a different art style than what I have been watching lately. I think I may be hooked??

I'd always taken anime to be animation that emerges from Japan. Given that it's covered a whole range of ideas and concepts over the years from action and samurai shows to slice of life and moe shows to giant robots shows to boys love to adaptations of classic literature, I'm wondering what you base your "it is not conceptually anime" on. Was it produced and made in Japan using Japanese animation techniques?

You talk as if Crunchyroll trying to encourage people to watch their new streaming show is a crazy thing. There are a hell of alot of pointless threads in these forums... you going to jump from thread to thread and criticise every one as an intrusion. Whilst I have some sympathy with this, I fear it may take you quite a while and people might get fed up with it and call it intrusive....

I hope you're not planning to make a new announcement every time a new episode of this comes out. To be honest, I thought this show was shit.

I haven't watched the first ep of this show, usually I wait for 2-3 to be released of any show before I start watching to get a better feel for it. I read somewhere in another thread that it's possible that CR thinks this show is their hot ticket item this season and from all the promotion they've been doing it seems like that is the case. They want, or were at least hoping, that Heroman would step up besides Naruto as the bread and butter of this season, especially since it seems they could not obtain 50% of the titles this season. Name drop "Stan Lee" a few times and you might attract a few new dozen people to come watch and hopefully pay for the show.

I can't say whether I like the show or not, but it's understandable with the lackluster array of titles presented by CR this season that they are trying to capitalize on any popularity a show might have, especially one they may or may not have shelled out big bucks for in the hopes that it's their meal ticket to keep people paying until next season when they might be able to acquire some better titles.

So I say let them promote as much as they want, if people really do like the show then great, I have no opinion of it thus far. I really would like them to come clean though about this season... like as in a post from Shinji himself stating the facts as to how they no longer have 50% of the titles or a "sorry I got you guys all hyped up for the Spring 2010 season with my post about all the wonderful titles coming even though we only got a couple new ones".

I'll keep paying for my anime membership... I want to support the industry so I will pay, even if it's just for the shows from last season I'm still watching... but a little humbling on CR's part would be appreciated.

But then again who in their right mind is going to come out and say "we failed this season"... they are going to try and make what they can out of what they have even while pretending that the things they hyped just never happened.

The original creator, is Stan Lee, a comic book writer (or whatever people call them)... And yes, it was produced and made in japan, using Japanese animation in order to make it seem like a cartoon.

No, I'm fine with them encouraging their shows, but they should give each show equal promotion. If they put up an episode 2 thread for each of the new animes, it would be fine... But I doubt they will. And I don't care about the other pointless threads in these forums, I care about the ones in the "site news" part... And I've already criticised a good proportion of the more recent ones.
