^Hypothetically speaking, of course Just try to imagine it.

Would they still love their fellow humans even though no one tells them to? Would they still see a point in not doing harm to fellow humans, even if it makes no difference in the afterlife / they were convinced there's no afterlife? Would they all go crazy and commit all the sins they missed out on? Would they start worshipping molecules?

o.O What a strange question that makes no sense. People see deities in anything, to prove that they didn't exist would be neigh impossible.

But I stopped believing in religion long ago, though I still practice a lot of its values that I was taught.
Quick counter question... Troubled theist or atheist?

hahaha. chaos. but i believe that even if it was proven that God or an omnipotent being doesnt exist, believers will never drop their faith. thats just how i see it. but with your question, i think alot of people do good because its in their nature. im agnostic, and though i might derive some of those wholesome values from a religion, i will pass it on as just good deeds for generations to come. but chaos would still be the best description, seeing as religion and god is a good control over mass amounts of people.

^^Oh, I thought deity was only a god, like Jehova and so on. I need to change the title then. I'm atheist, just interested, especially in the answers of religious people

like a god or some sort of divine figure, figures if your polytheist

I believe that they would retain their ethics. I consider ethics to transcend even the belief in a deity, and that there can be "good" and "bad" even if there are no forces of good or evil.

Not having a deity does not instantly imply that there will be no after-life, however as with the above, I believe that their ethical opinions will remain, including (hopefully) the belief that murder or harm to others is wrong.

Everyone sins anyway, but if the sins are outlawed in their moral code, then they would try to avoid them.

No one would just start worshipping something small and inanimate like molecules, the more important thing, which may end up being worshipped, would be the "God of natural science" - that is the physical laws governing our universe and the theories explaining them...

However I doubt that people would believe the proof in the first place.

And we failed to define Deity that well anyway, we may end up worshipping a leader figure, an organisation, an animal, our ancestors, mountains... anything to fill the void of understanding.

N.B. I'm panendeist (believe in an omnipotent eternal "God" - for want of a better word - which can be discovered through reason and empirical studies of the world)

In my opinion, if there is ghost there is god. it's not the question of believing or not, it's purely up to yourself but don't push who ever don't want to believe it. God is not a merchandise, it doesn't need to be promote or to hard sell.

I would continue to live according to the Bible bc it teaches good morals like don't steal, lie, murder, adultery, etc
