Well I think that people could just see that as a test of their faith, because the whole point of religion is to believe in something that is illogical and unprovable to show your devotion to God, so if it was proven that there was no God I think people would still go to church just to cover their asses in case God was merely testing their faith, or at least some people would, I doubt the younger generation would.

I think that just about sums up the fact that no one can prove that there's no god

god and religion are not the source of our morals... however we human beings are shallow to a degree that... ah fuck it i'll say it in geek... god is an OS core devised by humans in order to have fulfillment, religion is the OS so that we can conveniently choose and tweak according to our beliefs...

let's go to medicine... god is the placebo and religion is the candy coating...

and just to get it straight I'm a deist.... I believe that there is a higher power above us but basically I don't care whether he exists or not for whatever reasons whether it be good or evil... it's like looking at the moon at night wondering what it's purpose is... It's just there... It controls the tide and supposedly has effects people and animals during the full moon... hence the term lunacy...

To explain the mundane and the improbable is heresy in itself... therefore religion is self destructive... I believe the world will still exist even in the absence of this supposedly sentient, omniscient, omnipresent and all the other -sents you call god...

When you see a bridge, a building or an automobile, you automatically consider the person or company that constructed it. When you see a large ship, an airplane, a rocket, a satellite; you also think about how incredible it is. [You know by its design who the maker is.] When you see a super international airport, nuclear plant or an orbiting space station you have to be thoroughly impressed with the engineering dynamics that are involved. Yet, these are just things that are manufactured by human beings. So what about the human body with its massive and intricate control systems? Think about it. Think about the brain: how it thinks, functions, analyzes, retrieves and stores information, as well as distinguishes and categorizes information in a millionth of a second, all of this constantly. Think about the brain for a moment. (And don't forget the fact that you are using your brain to consider itself!) This is the brain that made the automobile, the rocket ships, the boats, and so on. Think about the brain and who made that! Think about the heart. Think about how it pumps continuously for sixty or seventy years [taking in and discharging blood throughout the body] maintaining steady precision throughout the life of the person.Think about the kidneys and the liver and the various functions they perform. The purifying instruments of the body that perform hundreds of chemical analyses simultaneously and also controls the level of toxicity in the content of the body. All of these are done automatically. Think about your eyes, the human cameras, that adjust, focus, interpret, evaluate, discern color automatically, naturally receiving and adjusting to light and distance. Think about it-Who created them? Who has mastered their design and function? Who plans and regulates their function? Human beings do this? No, of course not. What about this universe?

Think about this. This earth is one planet in our solar system, and our solar system is one [of possible many] solar systems. Our galaxy, The Milky Way, is one of the galaxies. There are ONE HUNDRED MILLION GALAXIES in the universe. They are all in order and they are all precise. They are not colliding with each other. They are not conflicting with on another. They are swimming along in an orbit that has been set for them. Did human beings set that into motion and are human beings maintaining that precision? No, of course not. Think about the oceans, the fish, the insects, the birds, the plants, bacteria, and chemical elements that have not yet been discovered and cannot be detected even with the most sophisticated instruments. Yet each of them has a law that they follow. Did all of this synchronization, balance, harmony, variation, design, maintenance, operation and infinite numeration happen all by chance? Do these things function perfectly and perpetually also by chance? No, of course not. That would be totally illogical and foolish. In the least, it indicates that however it came to exist-it exists beyond the realm of human capability. We will all agree to that. The Being, The Almighty Power, God, The Creator who has the knowledge to design and proportion created all of this and is responsible for maintaining it. HE is the only one that deserves praise and gratitude.

How can you not believe that there is a GOD?LOOK at the creation of GOD........

I find it amusing that it’s alright for somebody to ask us to play there is no God, but any time I’ve said, “Just assuming there is a God,” nobody feels the need to participate in that debate. I think I’m going to make a counter thread for this…

Anyway, if there was no God then this world would be utterly pointless. I’d go around doing whatever the hell I want, and screw whoever I effect. How’s that sound? No God= no right or wrong except perception= no right or wrong except what -people- -decide- is right or wrong= no right or wrong period.

Oh, come on, that's no 100% justification to "knowing" there is a god, we're just a masterful piece of art from evolution, I really really doubt "humans" were created from thin air having all the traits we have now. I highly doubt that. The "creation" of God/Christians/Jews... was NOT off of the amazing amounts of galaxies, the amazing amounts of traits human beings have, it was created off of beliefs, with no knowledge of galaxies, this was before they knew the knew the earth was round. Before things called inhumane now, were considered somewhat humane. Seriously now, how can you believe in a religion made a LONG time ago, where human beings were very ignorant compared to some people of these days, it really doesn't make much sense.

I think people are taking this thread to seriously. she asked "if" there is no god what would happen. Not that there isn't one. If there was no god I think that some people would still try and make up religions to gain power over some people. I think some might get depressed because no god=no afterlife. I don't think that there would be mass crimes as long as we still have laws.

Seraph, I hope you're kidding me. Humans CAN decide what is right and wrong, they really can. There's a lot of thing YOU find right/wrong that is NOT in the bible. There are tons of things, murdering like mad because you know there is no hell is pretty stupid. Because you go to the human version of hell, Jail, which isn't as bad, but it's still what it is. Doing good things just because your bible tells you = wrong. Because the only bad thing you see in doing those things is, the fact you're probably going to hell for it. That's making you selfish, and an ass hole. You're just trying to be a happy person so you can have a fun time in heaven when you die, if it even exists. I mean you don't need to kill people because you know of no hell or heaven, you have to know OTHER reasons why it's right/wrong to do such things... I'm not at all religious and you don't see me killing people like a mad man do you? No, you really don't. I'm sorry that you're saying you're one hell of a weak person without your religion. That's pretty sad.

tsk tsk seraph.

"Do gods love holiness because it is holy, or is it holy because the Gods love it?"

Give this a thought, I'll add more later.
