[D] KFC's New Sandwich (Double Down)
Posted 4/9/10

Yes, that is 2 fucking pieces of fried chicken instead of buns.
Inside is two pieces of bacon, two slices of Monterey Jack and pepper jack cheese and a squish of Colonel's Sauce.

Feeling healthy? Go for the grilled chicken version instead. The "original recipe" Double Down has 540 calories, 32 grams of fat and 1,380 milligrams of sodium. The grilled version has 460 calories, 23 grams of fat and a whopping 1,430 milligrams of sodium. Most health groups recommend a maximum intake of 1,500 to 2,400 milligrams a day.

KFC's new Double Down sandwich raises a lot of questions: Is a sandwich truly a sandwich if it contains no bread? How do you eat this without getting your hands all greasy? Who's it for? Atkins fans? Gastronomic daredevils? Does this thing—which contains two fried chicken fillets, two slices of cheese and two strips of bacon—really clock in at fewer than 600 calories, as KFC claims? Consumers in Providence, R.I., and Omaha, Neb., may be mulling these questions, since those are the only two places you can buy the item right now. But KFC appears to be, uh, greasing the wheels for a national entry. There's a TV ad from Draftfcb, Chicago, that shows a bunch of guys complaining in helium voices that they're tired of chicken sandwiches that have a big bun and little in the way of chicken. Then the Double Down comes along, and they start speaking normally. Despite its limited introduction, the sandwich has gotten considerable buzz. A YouTube version of the Draftfcb ad has gotten more than 180,000 views, and a Fox News report has garnered more than 80,000. That anchor couldn't help musing that this may be the best thing since sliced bread.

I've never seen them advertise that. Are you sure it's not just a joke? O_o
Even if it is real, it won't last. No one will buy it, which will lead them no other choice but to remove it from the menu.

Both of you are crazy. =___=;
That thing looks disgusting. Who would have ever thought that poor chicken would one day take over a bun's job and take over the role of bread? What is the world coming to?

That looks really tasty. I used to buy KFC a lot but their business is running dry. I'd try it.

Ugh. Disgusting in more ways than one. Not only is KFC completely unethical in business and animal rights issues, but they want to kill off their customers with heart attacks.

Feeling healthy?

Obviously not if you're considering one of these abominations! One Heart-attack in a sandwich, hold the bread please! Don't forget my large chips and drink.

That's so gross. I don't know how anyone could eat that, we all know it's not going to look anything like the picture when you order it, and since fast food staff are generally incompetent at best, it would probably be served as some disgusting mangled ball of greasy cheesy chicken.

since when do i care about my health?? I can die tomorrow and not even care and this sandwich is just another stepping stone to that.

I thought regular kfc was nasty, but unless they deep fried the whole thing over again and covered it in batter (double down pocket) I can't see it getting any worse. I enjoy eating junk food, but seriously each one of those is like a punch to the heart and liver.
