Is there a anti-bullying day in your country?

I know that in Ontario we celebrate it, ribbons and all. We also have the day of silence--they even handed out bright blue duct tape to people who wanted to participate. I think that having a loud way of bringing this issue to people's attention is a good way to put a stop to it. Maybe the bullies aren't going to stop being bullies because of it, but people will be more aware of how much of a problem it is and might be motivated to help put a stop to it. Even just refraining the use of the words "gay" or "retarded" in a casual manner (you know what I mean) or asking someone more than once if they'rew okay after a bullying incident--I guaranteed that 90% of the time, if someone says they're okay after being bullied, they're probably lying.

Oh, recently we had something similar. Its called Vow of silence. We didn't talk for like a block while some people didn't talk for the day. The purpose for this was because people in other places were killed/imprisoned because they wanted food, freedom, speak w/e they wanted ( I think, i forgot xD). It happened on Nov.20th i think.

Oh, that's not the same one. I was talking about the same day of silence for protesting homophoebia, to symbolize the silent torture some homosexual and bisexual kids go through day to day, either supressing the damage bullying does to them, or being unable to be open about their sexuality due to fear of ridicule.

Bullying weeds out the weak. Keeps the strong, strong.

Man, our school didn't mention it at all. Humph, I will bring a pink ribbon with me tomorrow, just in case.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure we don't but they might start doing that because that's all I hear about now.

Nope. No one really cares about bullying in America. I mean, there are groups against it and stuff, but at the end of the day, nothing really happens

There's an anti-bullying week in UK i think, but my school doesn't do much. We probably read a bullying related quote everyday for that week.

False.. Bulling weeds out those with different beliefs, wealth, size, int, ext. Bulling is a group of people, picking on someone because their not like that group. My school 12 years ago had a big
thing about jocks picking on the nerdiest of kids. But to the most part it was the girls in are school that was the biggest bullies to other girls...
Popularity is everything to girls, at least that is what I got from how girls acted in my school back in the day.

Anti-bullying day is the day when the bullied decides to stand up for his/herself. Official days don't do much, parents can't really do anything, and teachers often won't.

Know from experience that it's the only way, show them you won't stand for the bullshit anymore. The longer you put up with it the harder it is to stop. Even if you get beat down once or twice, keep at it and they'll lose interest as you're no longer the 'easy target'.

What bullys don't understand is that there are different kinds of strength, just as intelligence does not equate to wisdom.

Also, don't feed the wannabe-jock-trolls folks
