um well i live at manhattan, nyc so its because the many shops, no tax on clothing, everything is within a walking distance, tall buildings, great art schools and artists like performing, snow, tons of different cultures, many ppl etc.
but there are also many cons its overcroweded, ppl are arrogant, rude, too hot in summer, too cold in winter, yellow snow, expensive rent, litter, roaches, rats, smells and so on....

NYC has everything. A lot of diversities, public transit, restaurants, stores, colleges, etc.. I suggest not to drive to Manhattan b/c it is hard to find parking spaces.

Personally, I haven't been there, but I would love a chance to go.

I guess it's just that it looks so glamorous on TV and media. It's so vibrant and upbeat. I guess to the majority of people it would be a change in environment and scenario.

It's because of the Pokemon.

Because they are masochists.

not really sure. i guess it has some nice things like shows on broadway, good food, museums, and shopping. But i would rather visit old cities like Florence, Rome and stuff like that. The buildings are just so interesting to look at.

I was born there and lived there most of my life. I guess pretty convenient especially you don't need a car for transportation and if you are hungry, you can just walk to a food place. If you are bored, you have plenty to do outside for shopping or going out with friends. Also, it's a good place for diverse people.

Though I never really considered it great to live in. People are crankier there and too much noise and pollution and hobos. A lot of public schools sucked too. And it's hard to do stuff like biking and skateboarding. Not impossible but not as easy as having wide open space. People that never have lived in NYC overrate it. It's not like the movies. And it is pretty easy to become a hermit there too actually despite all the fancy city lights.

I should probably visit my friends sometime.

I like in Queens but I travel to Manhattan back and forth a lot, and I've never seen a rat O.o maybe it's just me though xD I've heard from others that there's rats, but usually in the sewers or the train tracks. The train tracks are gross though lol. But NYC is a good place to live in, if you like shopping, and a fast paced world. Everything is pretty much fast and quick here. Now if you like diversity, there's queens, where I live. It's mostly a quiet area. But Manhattan has a lot, like times square, east village, soho, etc. Everyday you can find something to do. For hotels and living there, I would recommend living in Queens. The hotels are a bit cheaper.

I changed my mind. Stuff to do, AND I can still be a hermit :]

well let's just put it this way:
people like things that they can't have, and we love to broaden our horizons.

I think New York is a beautiful place, however, living expenses and stuff seem kind of ridiculous. I'd also have to delve into educational aspects first. I'd rather live in Maryland and just visit New york sometimes, it's only a few hours away. I will say, that NY is very diverse-and that's something I love, but living in the part of Maryland I have, I've experienced that aspect already and I love it.
