I mean rape myth in the Japanese criminal justice system, really? Really?
![]() Oh but that's what the Japanese criminal justice system is doing with rape crime. For you see, when you have a system that downplays on rape, suddenly the actual number of rape cases becomes lower than before. It's like magic! ![]() Not only that, when you factor in the collectivist mentality that's the Japanese cultural influence, why should the individual Japanese populace ever questioning their own legislation? When the collectivist culture is all about "sacrificing the rights of an individual for the greater good", only this time the "greater good" is their criminal justice system created by the elitists of their society; the Japanese legislators. A Japanese who will change the status quote by challenging the lawmakers? That's unheard of. ![]() And to think, the rape myth in the Japanese criminal justice system is not even protecting those Japanese women who have a rape fantasy fetish, simply because how gender bias it is. ![]() So by that very logic of rape myth, do you consider the state of Japan is a nation of legal discrimination for women and children, due to their downplaying on rape crime with their gender bias "rape myth" system in the Japanese Criminal Justice System, yes or no? Be realistic with your reasoning, and keep the idiocy down to a minimum. |

I do think, to a very large extent, there is discrimination against women and children in Japan. It is that obsession with "Face," their desire to appear so good, that this downplay happens. Women and girls do not speak out against this because they don't want to stand out, and the same goes for the people who see it in plain sight. Nobody wants to be a hero, so they do NOTHING.
The hard fucking truth. There are so many contributing factors to all this the only proper way to understand it would be to study the culture and history of the nation, which I have taken a crack at. It's kind of like trying to understand World War 2. Before you can understand that war, you have to understand the ones that came before it. |

Or it may be that Japanese society simply sees the female population as a tool to obtain pleasure. Asian society is, after all, notorious for its rather negative view of females and their roles in society.

An obsession for the Japanese females and children to preserve their true selves, using whatever being identified as the social norms by the socially dominating male-counterpart. Now that's something to be seen as the nature of Japanese culture can be dangerous to women and children. EDIT: speaking of the Pacific War, I find it interesting how the method of "doing nothing" mirrors itself with the Japanese concept of 黙殺/mokusatsu/"killing with silence"; the Japanese's official reply to the Allies' request for surrender. Which dated before the Russian's invasion onto Japanese territory, after the two atomic bomb drops as well as the Tokyo Firebombing. orangeflute wrote: Or it may be that Japanese society simply sees the female population as a tool to obtain pleasure. What you see in Japan was the order of life in Europe and USA only 50 years ago.
What do I think about it? Think it's just another abomination of human society. |

That's one thing that a lot of people don't like to have to admit on here (or like to benefit from on this community) is generally the subjugation of Japanese women. The lack of reporting isn't like in the US, where if people choose not to report, saying "What are the cops going to do" is a valid reason. The lack of reporting is because it puts attention on the woman, and Japan, like the US, is a HUGE Rape-culture of victim-blaming and slut-shaming. The belief is that if a woman is raped, then she did something to deserve it, and it isn't like groping, where 'that guy was just sickening'. |
