Is it harder to be underweight or overweight?

Another body issues thread, oh no.

I was reading a post somewhere, and it really got me thinking.

There was this girl, and she was complaining about how skinny women had it worse than overweight women. With the 'eat a sandwich' comments and ill-fitting clothes. She claimed that when she went to the gym, people would wonder what she was doing there and think she was just showing off her body. She said that being thin wasn't a privilege and that underweight women had a way harder time and that they should get more compassion [than overweight women]. And a lot more of stuff, but most of it was pretty ignorant and I'm not making this thread to bash her ideas, but to expand on the main topic of body issues like this.

Well, I really thought about it, and I'm a bit skeptical about some of the things she said (when you go to a gym, no one really gives a fuck, there's people of all sizes!) and I generally have to disagree, being thin is looked upon as attractive to society, being overweight is seen as literally disgusting and lots of people really think that if you're not slender, you will *never* be attractive. I'd say it's not worse. It's obviously anything but good that they're being told these things, but I think that overweight women will generally have a harder time in life than underweight women, because they'll always be viewed as unattractive, and I think every woman deserves to feel pretty. (I've been watching too much Tyra. Can you tell?)

When it comes down to it, telling someone to eat a sandwich is on a totally different level than fat shaming, but all in all, it's negative commentary about the human body and it shouldn't be happening at all.

So, what are your opinions on this? Do you think thin girls have it just as bad as larger girls? Worse? Or do they have it better? Why do you say that? Bonus points for personal experiences.

Note: Not just in physical terms! I'm wondering more about emotional terms and how underweight and overweight people are viewed in society. (In general.)

Well.... uhhh it just depends who you are. I mean, I'm in my weight zone but just barely over the under-weight line.

I guess it depends on the way ur body works and what chu eat.

I don't really care about my weight but people say I'm hecka skinny. O.o

I don't even do anything with my weight.

And it also depends on if you're born pre-mature or something...

Sorry if this doesn't help.

Oh, for sure. I'd say I'm on the slim side (I've got a big ass, though), but it's not like I think I'm ~better~ than people with different body types or that I have it any harder because I get some snarky comments about my weight sometimes. Blech. We should all just accept that different people are gonna have different bodies and be done with it.

I think it's harder to be underweight. See below. V

I also think obese women have it harder because they have to be careful with what they eat and exercise daily.
Whereas underweight women can just eat without worries.

~Underweight women has it worse than skinny women?REALLY?! I don't think so.Well, for me, I think overweight or obese women have it tougher than skinny women because when a lot of people see obese women they're like, OMGWTF that's one big mama! Well that's what I see anyway. A lot of guys like skinny better than fatty. No offense to overweight women here on cr but I see a lot of people making fun of fat women and think they're disgusting(just so u guys know,I'm not one of them). I rarely see guys who have respect for obese women but when a woman's skinny, guys don't really mind that much.So I say it's harder for obese women than skinny women.

Underweight, I guess.

If you want to be underweight, you exercise, am I right?
And if you want to be overweight, you eat, right?

Eating > Exercise

So I'm guessing most people like eating more than exercising. So it should be harder to be underweight.
Either that or some people don't get much exercise because of work and their busy time schedules.
Which means fitting excercise in your schedule should be tough?

Lol. I don't really know. I'm kinda just doing some thinking and posting it here.

Go for it, brotha. But I was kinda going for is it harder to be overweight or underweight (naturally or because of unhealthy habits or eating disorders) and not want to be.

I don't think I can really say, since health problems come with being both underweight and overweight. In my opinion, they both have it hard.
