Okay so I've recently found out about S.A.D or Social Anxiety Disorder through stuff on the internet. I've taken quizzes and have read some stuff on it and I think I have it. At first I thought I had paranoia or something but I'm pretty sure I have S.A.D. Anyway I was wondering if there was anybody else out there that actually has it and if there is maybe they could help me understand it better.

this is one of the disorders that I do have, I have a big problem talking or wanting to be around other people for to long or my anxiety will go up way to much and I will have a huge attack >_<. It really does suck when do have one.

To be honest, I have it as well. I usually have a fear of a social event before it even happens. Even though I know that the thoughts are ridiculous, I'm overcome by them. I also don't enjoy eating or writing in front of others, being the center of attention, working with others, or going to places where there are a large number of people, but knowing that I have this disorder, avoiding being social will only worsen things for me. So I go out everyday and talk to random people. I'm starting to talk more now and socialize with others, but I still hate eating in front of people.

I don't have SAD, but I'm sure I used to have problems communicating when I transferred schools

Never knew they put a label on something like this either. I may be afraid to speak to people sometimes or be in a large crowd,
(still is a little today)but I've overcome it some cause I have to go on with life. I can't let fear hold me back.

You and I both, kiddo.
Edit:
Ops, I was thinking of Suicide, Depression, Anxiety Disorders.
Anyway, when I search S.A.D I get Seasonal affective disorder.

Ontopic:

I highly doubt I have it, although I prefer not to be associated with a big crowd. I think that's just my life preference. It's not a disorder.

As for eating in front of people. A lot of people hate eating in front of others. Are you people sure you have that disorder and not just using it as an excuse, because you're not a social person in general?

Nope. Not at all =P It's just that people in my school have been using S.A.D as a joke. So yeah.

I would recommend taking a course in public speaking or maybe an acting or drama class.

It could help to break you out of your shell.

Cheers

I know this is weird, but I could've sworn that it stood for Seasonal Affective Disorder.
I learned that it's a disorder when you feel depressed when it's a certain season.

Well as for Social Anxiety Disorder, I don't think I have it, and I don't have Seasonal Affective Disorder either.

Just taking quizzes on the internet is not going to give you an answer, because all people exhibit behaviors that are associated with one disorder or another. All people are prone to something, but it doesn't mean that you actually have it. Put it this way, if you're able to make more than ten friends on any website like crunchyroll, if you can start threads and not be anxious about how people will react to it, and if in school during lunch break you're usually with your group of friends and not hidden somewhere in the library reading a book and starving because you're too afraid to go to the cafeteria to buy lunch, then it's more than likely that you're just fine

I have soical anxiety disorder as well, and the fact that I'm so quiet and shy sort of makes it worse.
