It is a masterpiece for some, and a plain off-putting series for others. You better be prepared to handle these basic things to have a chance at enjoying this show:
.Unique and unorthodox artstyle - specifically the artstyle for the albums of AKFG
.Surrealistic scenes
.Groundhog Day plot a.k.a Repetitive.
.Vague Genre -
.Extremely fast dialogues
.Episodic elements

The tragic part is that the anime is pretty off-putting for most people due to the artstyle, dialogue speed and somewhat repetitive element, but I still love it nonetheless. The OP and ED's are very good as well. The main attraction of this series is its enigmatic and mindscrew nature, not using bold, colourful artstyle.

It is NOT the typical type of anime you see every day, so it's a good choice if you're looking for something that's deviated from the normal.

The art is the least I care about. I think I'll give this one a try. Thanks ^_^

Just remember that the dialogue speed is insane in the first episode (others, not so much), so try and bear through that.

Now that I think about it....I cant remember or even guess what the genre of this anime could be.
But yea, this anime is definititely not your typical anime.....maybe its an acquired taste? Idk, but I like it, I think its probably the best in the Unknown anime category.

Episode 6 was pretty good! More interesting than the others so far! Almost a completely different scenario...and this time no Akashi-san was in it! Man this episode was too freaking funny with him arguing with his Johnny. Gosh...he musta had one hell of a struggle. Anyways this anime really raised its interesting level this episode!

I stopped watching this awhile back. So iI decided to finish it...and now....I have realized.....that this anime was such a MASTERPIECE.....that it literally blinded me from liking it. Its sad to say this as an anime fan.......but this anime was just too out of my league to handle....I have never gotten owned from an anime....EVER.....truly truly remarkable.

However....I do want to NEVER see a show like this again. Its too.....masterpiece-ish for my taste

Due to the sheer amount of paradoxical sentences within your statement, I have no idea whether you loved the series or not - but then, this is pretty much one of the most unique and interesting series I've watched this year. It's a real shame, since people may compare this to the likes of Endless Eight due to its seemingly repetitive style.

Indeed. I couldnt make a straight sentence to save my life in that post. I guess what Im trying to say is.....I know that the anime was a masterpiece.....but I sadly wasnt able to fully enjoy it due to it being......just so out of the ordinary of what I watch.

Or maybe I did really enjoy it. I loved seeing how all the pieces finally came together. And I think the biggest highlight for me was when Watashi made the same face as Ozu did at the very end. I think I understood what that meant....but not sure if I know all the specifics.
When Watashi made that face.....does it mean his life is going to be on track for now on? Since Ozu throughout the anime seemed to enjoy every aspect of life....does that mean its Watashi's turn? Also...does that mean that Ozu now is going to have to face the same troubles as Watashi? My original guess is that its going to turn out good for both of them.

I mean we could pretty much sum up that the ending had to be involved with Watashi returning that Mochiguman doll or w/e it was back to Akashi. Heck I figured that had to be the way to end it right episode I watched episode 2.

I was debating this anime in my sleep all last night....and Im trying to figure out what I truly thought of it. I mean when I saw that all the episodes were basically parallel worlds to the original....it all made sense as to why each episode was different yet the same kinda. Maybe since it just shot out a supernatural phenomenon out of the blue...I wasnt quite ready for it? The only thing I knew for sure thoughout this series was that the only way for it to end would be to give the white doll to Akashi.

And while Im talking about how it ended......I dont see why Watashi had to help Ozu right there and then.....it seemed that he only needed to give the doll back to Akashi and that woulda been it........but of course Im glad the anime did it the way it did because otherwise we wouldnt have seen the lil role switch around at the end.

And I also thought to myself......you know....couldnt I just compare this to the Endless Eight in haruhi Suzumiya? I mean its basically what it did. Sure there is supposed to be more depth than Endless Eight. But it is essentially the same. The only anime other than Tatami Galaxy that has been able to use this scenario successfully would be Higurashi. I guess Im not used to seeing how things slowly come together like in a real book that you read for English class does....in an anime. But yea this is much better than Endless Eight and it even shames me that I even compared it

So what did I enjoy about this anime? I wanted to know the ending....I guess that was it. I mean I dropped the anime in the first place for a reason.

If I had to use an analogy to compare this anime to other animes. It would be that Tatami Galaxy is like the fine wine of anime. And the majority of all other anime are like Soda's. The majority of the world probably enjoys Soda more than Fine Wine. Would it be due to personal taste? (Like people preferring the typical anime) Is it because they aren't used to Fine Wine's taste? (They cant truly comprehend what is going on in this anime).

Maybe another analogy would be comparing typical anime and Tatami Galaxy to video games. Typical anime taking the role of Typical video games......and Tatami Galaxy taking the role of.....a very hard puzzle game?

Oh screw it....Im losing my marbles and not making any damn sense probably. Bottom line is this. This anime was a 10/10 material no doubt about it. Just that I was too dull to enjoy all the special things each episode brought,......or was I? I have no idea. I feel like I got mind-fucked by this anime. I think its time I watch some actual anime Movies....since apparently those are usually in the category "Masterpiece".....maybe then I will be able to understand better.

Oh and this is the first anime that actually make me think.......that the novel form of this probably was awesome. All the storytelling in the anime.....it just seems to be so like it.
