Ok, so heres what I've got so far (scroll down for test results)

I and a 'few' other people are having a problem with any video on crunchyroll not loading/dropping frames. This all started happening right around the time the Flash player 10.1 update went live, so I thought this was the issue but this proves to not be the case (at least not the main issue). The problem exists in both IE 8 and Firefox 3.6.4, and for me the frames dropped are greater in IE than in Firefox. I could originally get the problem to go away by adding 63.84.95.101 cp71915.edgefcs.net to my hosts file (this fixed things for a couple of people using Charter, but also helped my using Knology), but this no longer works. Short of doing some major investigation to find a streaming location that is closer to me in central Alabama, I really have no idea how to fix this issue from this point. Any help would be appreciated.

First I would make sure you have removed that line (normally the one your DNS server reports to you should be closer then Chicago to you) and if that still doesn't work, I have a list of a few DC servers you could try since it was previously fixed by switching which server you streamed from. I would also suggest you upgrade to Firefox 3.6.6. It has one change since 3.6.4 and thats to increase the "kill timer" for things it thinks has frozen.

The first advertisement plays correctly, then the video takes forever to appear. When it does appear, it starts and stops every 2-5 seconds of video. I am running Firefox 3.6.6. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. Here are the results of the tests you suggested:

@JXMP I point you at the thread at http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-640595/fail-to-load-videos-wcharter-communications/ as it should have the solution for your problem which is caused by lack of data throughput from the streaming server.

I have totally been trying to watch Fairy Tail in 720p (or any video on this site for that matter) but it always lags even if I buffer it for like a minute. It's really annoying trying to watch something and having to pause it every 30secs to 2 minutes. I followed all the directions about uninstalling flash, reinstalling it, clearing flash and Firefox browser caches and no luck. Any suggestions on how I could resolve this? Would I need to contact the cable company or is there something else I could do? Thank you in advance for the assistance!

Thanks. Your fix seems to have worked. However, I am a little concerned that altering the "hosts" file has created some security issue. Should I be worried about this?

@Yamanari It looks to me like your download speed from that test is too slow to stream 720p. I don't know the actual required speed for a 720p stream, but I would assume its alot more then 2.60 mbps, I will try to figure out how much.

@JXMP ading things to the hosts file is not much of a security risk as that address is used by flash to stream the video only and the most evil thing someone could do (with way too much work) is to somehow get that ip address released by the streaming server and onto their own server, then stream you a different video

@Yamanari Ok, so while streaming a 720p I am maintaining about 1.6 mbps throughput from the server (after I have hit full buffer), so I guess 2.6 could technically handle it. I notice you are going through Cogentco to get to Chicago. Cogentco is known to have data throughput issues. Could you do another speed test but to Chicago this time so we can look at your data throughput from Chicago which is where the video server you are streaming is from. If as I am guessing Cogentco is the problem, we will have to find a server location for you that does not have you going through Cogentco.

The really sad part is my parents are paying big bucks for a 16MB/s package and getting nowhere near that speed T_T

Cogeco... let's see, if I remember right they don't lock their modems. Go to http://192.168.100.1 and it should have connection information of downstream power, downstream signal to noise ratio, and upstream power, as well as downstream modulation, it will let me know if your modem is having the connection problem (which helps you get cogeco to fix the problem). I would also recomend powering off your modem and router for a full 30 seconds and the plugging in the modem, wait another 30 seconds then plug in the router. Then do another speedtest to both the closest server and Chicago. Another thing to consider is if you are on wireless, try being on wired.

So we had some construction going on (electric company putting cables underground) and the cable company had to reground our cable line today. I followed your directions and after they finished the work on the line it works like a charm now~ I didn't have to buffer Fairy Tail at all this time. Thanks for your assistance.

Yea, now that you have more data throughput you can get data faster then needed to watch.
