This is how we treat our paying customers? I was willing to deal with this problem in hopes that it would be fixed soon, but after reading this comment I think I will be cancelling my subsciption now. Besides, no point in paying for 720p videos when they wont even play properly anyways. Sorry we're such a nuisance to you, at least its on less person for you to "argue" with...Goodbye Crunchyroll!

As I have stated before, I have been having problems with Crunchyroll for a while now. I have since cancelled, but I still have a bunch of months left in my subscription. I'm still giving it a try here and there, and tonight I was trying to watch an episode but kept getting the blank screen. Frustrated, I was looking around on the forums again and I came across a post saying that changing your DNS server to the public Google one helps. I was like, well, I have nothing to lose, might as well give it a shot. So I changed my DNS server and miraculously videos are loading instantly now. Fast forwarding/rewinding are also pretty much instantaneous. So changing my DNS server has mostly fixed my issue. I say mostly because I did get a blank screen after randomly opening my 10th video for testing. After refreshing, it worked again though. Not nearly as bad as having to refresh 20 times (which I have done), so I can live with that. I'll give this a try for a few weeks and if all seems well, I'll resubscribe.

If anyone wants instructions on how to change your DNS server (and to learn more about Google's public DNS server), check out this link: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

If you are having issues, you might as well give it a try!

EDIT: It looks like a bunch of people were talking about changing your DNS server fixes the issue... I guess I didn't want to bother sifting through hundreds of posts. From the number of people still complaining, this potential fix needs more visibility some how. Something with big shiny red letters in all caps in the thread subject that says " FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO FIX YOUR PROBLEMS " or something... lol

While I DO like Crunchyroll, and still use it on a regular basis, I agree with dnyce1042. Any good business knows that the customer is always right, and that they should conform or accommodate the customer's needs. We have the right, as paying customers, to complain about any issues we have with our services. Apologizing to your customers despite the arduous request they may have, is always a good thing to do, as done by the sony executives following the PSN security breach.

I don't know if this really counts as a playback problem, but recently advertisements have been repeating 2-3 times before getting back to the video.

This is at every ad point - Beginning, middle, near-end, and again after the video finishes if I let it. It's the same ad every time, a 30 second ad for a travel card... Not so much fun to watch 3 times in a row!

This combined with adobe crash problems can make it take verrry long to watch a half hour video... Nothing on my computer has changed since I last used crunchyroll, about a week ago. Whether it's somehow happening on my end or yours, it seems to be for all videos.

WE as costumers should not have to do anything because they have switched to new servers, causing DNS CONFLICT. I'v bin around for a while (Took a break for a few months forgot acc blah blah) But I was here when Crunchy was a 100% FREE site back in the day ok, and before you had all rights to say stop complaining. Now that we are PAYING for your services fix the damn problem suck it up don't tell me its my internet or my computer my computer cost more then the servers you wish you could have Don't blame my Internet cause I have the best of the best when you get your internet bill oh no 150-200 dollars I pay 550 a month for mine the best of the best I'm a professorial gamer so I make sure nothing holds me back. When I'm relaxing and chilling I want to watch anime only to have my ANIMES NEVER LOAD OR I HAVE TO PRESS REFRESH A MILLION TIMES TO GET 2 SECONDS OF PLAY TIME....... You owe me and many others an apologoy SUCK it up Shinji you need to say sorry (Some people could get so pissed a law suit could come about dou to your ignorance)

The problem I had was only as a member. While a paying member no video (no matter the resolution) would load more than a few seconds at a time. Immediately after cancelling my membership (got tired of it), I went to try another video and it worked just fine. All videos have worked just fine since then. No lag, no freezing, no buffering. The problem (for me at any rate) only seems to exist while I am paying to watch. I also never watch an episode within the first 8-12 hours after release.

Well after enjoying a few weeks with things working properly, tonight got hit by that annoying problem of videos don't buffer or don't even start playing, again. Pretty sad that (I believe) these problems started occurring around February and here it is May, lo and behold there still ongoing. Also now people seem to have success watching shows after cancelling their accounts?
A question for the staff, how do you expect customers to take you seriously and not cancel their memberships when the standard answer seems to be we're talking to our service provider yet problems are still around? I am not trying to rag on you guys but this is unprofessional. If you switched to a provider and have been experiencing a significant increase in issues with your customers (not to mention that a few of us have provided you trace routes and other information you have outlined as useful for troubleshooting), doesn't that warrant looking for a new provider who can accommodate your bandwidth needs better / knows how to route traffic better?

Zero it's been the same for me. Today has been really bad with streaming. I can't believe they haven't fired this supplier already.

The technical ticket was to simple for me to list all the detailed information.

Currently I have the blank screen syndrome that other users have described. As a recap it occurs right after the crunchyroll logo is hidden.
No Video or Audio data is loaded (I see no further traffic at this point). There is also no times loaded (current and total).

Flash 10.2.x
Flash 10.3.x

ISP AT&T Uverse (until the bandwidth caps are implemented)

MAX Turbo 24:18 Mb/s (3:1 MB/s)

I tested on 4 machines (1 physical, 2 virtual):

VMware ESXi Server
Dell T100 Poweredge
4GB DDR3 Ram
Raid 1 (250GB)
3.0 Ghz Xeon Processor Dual Core

Dell XPS m1710 Laptop
C2D @ 2Ghz
7900 GS Go
500 GB Segate Momentus XT (126GB Free)
4GB RAM

Web Development Machine (Under VMware ESXi)
Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit
Firefox 3.6.x
Chrome 11.0.696.68
IE 8 (with latest updates)
100 GB (60GB Free)
::Same results. Video player finished logo loading and halts. Since this is my development machine I use for Web programming (WAMP and Asp.Net) it has just about every web addon and plugin I could ask for. To elimnate those I tried following you first posting and disabled all but java and flash.

XPS Laptop
Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit
Firefox 3.6.x
Firefox 4.0.1
Chrome 11.0.696.68
IE 8 (with latest updates)
::Same results. Video player finished logo loading and halts. This is my primary vieing rig since I usually will use it to RDP to my server and Dev station.

Domain Controller
Windows 2008 R2 Standard (64 bit)
Firefox 3.6.x
Chrome 11.0.696.68
IE 8 (with latest updates, restricted mode off)
120 GB (90GB Free)

I have a static IP and my DNS server has all the addresses from the ISP statically so I have no worries there. I run through a WRT120N for wireless and a Cisco RVS4000 for my main gateway. If you need any other specs let me know. I also made sure to run the test twice just to be safe (glad I did).

I really want to watch episode 5 of Deadman Wonderland
