Buffering issue: Video pauses while the stream downloads (aka video plays back faster than the stream can keep up):

20/2 service from BrightHouse Networks (aka Roadrunner)
WIndows 7 Pro, x64
Core i7 on X58 chipset, 6GB DDR3
7200 RPM drives
Behind ASUS RT-N16 gigabit router. Wired gigabit connection to router.
Same results when connected directly to cable modem.
Google Chrome stable channel, IE9, Firefox 9

Issue: Streaming 1080p = almost impossible
Streaming 720p = somewhat impossible
Streaming 480p = possible

Guys, this is really frustrating. I can't watch a single episode properly. The video keeps stopping and I have to hit refresh for it to get back. I'm monitoring internet traffic and everytime i hit refresh I get a burst of data and then it dry's up. So i have to constantly refresh the page to get the video. 5 seconds at a time.

For a few days now, loading 720p streams has been very slow for me. I used to be able to start playing the episode right away, now it stops to buffer several times in the episode so that the stream becomes nearly unwatchable. There seems to be nothing wrong with my internet connection and I see I'm not the only one with the problem. Here's my speedtest and pingtest:

No problems with nslookup, ping or tracert (see spoiler for the details)

I emailed you about this in Jan (I think, it could have been Dec.), but nothing was resolved.
My computer is a new computer purchase in Oct of 2011, OS is Windows 7-64bit, browser is Firefox current and updated versions (not sure which one just updated 2 days ago). Flash 11, Intel core i7 (quadcore), Processor speed 2.0 GHz, my video card is a Nvidia GeForce 540M, I have 8 GB of RAM, and C drive has 679 GB free out of 1T.
No matter what video I try to watch the video will play for about 30sec to 1 min then pause for about a min., then repeat unless I press the pause button while it is pausing then press the play button then it will immediately play again and not wait out its normal pause time. But it still does the play and pause routine through the whole movie. I liked Cruchyroll, but this is getting irritating enough that I’ll start looking for somewhere else to watch, if this doesn’t get fixed.

Do you have the same problem on another computer on the same internet connection? If not, that would mean the problem is with your computer, not Crunchyroll.

It must be my computer I started one of my older computers and have no problems.
I don't know what is going on now.

I was watching on the other computer as a "guest" and had no pauses, had commercials but no pauses. The moment I logged in it has the pauses again so it's not my computers it's the sites.

Howdy!

We apologize for the errors encountered yesterday. We have been having issues with our ISP and are currently working to resolve these issues. If people are still experiencing playback problems please let me know?

Is there any ETA as to when this might be fixed? There's still rarely enough bandwidth to watch shows and its been several weeks. Occasionly it goes back to normal but its not reliable.

Blegh.

Stuff is intermittently streaming at around .4 mbits. Whatever the problem is, Hulu's ad servers are getting tagged with the same bottleneck the last couple days. Shows were running perfect over there, but it can take you four or five minutes to stutter through their ads.

please fix the subtitles on Roku so they don't go off the bottom of the screen. this happens on old full screen animes and on my 4:3 tube tv. the overscan makes them go off the bottom of the screen cuz the subs are so big and so close to the bottom. i have hulu plus and full screen anime does not go off the bottom of their old full screen animes. it fully displays on the bottom of the screen on hulu plus so i know you guys can fix this.

Please check your TV for 'Overscan Mode' This should help with the subtitles on older shows.

Most older 4:3 sets, especially if a CRT, will not have this. Menu accessible overscan settings are normally only found on flat panel televisions.

Got it! I had misread it with 4:3 as the aspect ratio for shows, not the television.
