Help with Video Playback Problems

Cola_Colin wrote: The second thing: In the first post you ask me for a "tracert crunchy.fcod.llnwd.net". That host doesnt exist, so neither tracert nor ping or nslookup work on it. I checked what the correct ip is with wireshark and the download indeed comes from some other server: 92.122.207.118 which was found by a dns-request for a156.vig5.akafms.net Maybe you might want to update the first post? CR indeed needs to update that part of the first post. They have not used Limelight as their CDN for some time now. Akamai is their current CDN. |

Yes, that's my real age.

Indeed, that's a typo
EDIT: Currently 1080p works again. Streaming from the same server (92.122.207.118) Maybe the problem correlates to certain daytimes. |

I updated the first post to just link to the Help page which would have the most up-to-date info.

Cola_Colin wrote: It is clearly visible that it just randomly stops downloading completely. In fact it stops downloading and a few seconds later the video lags. In the worst cases I have to restart it by either clicking the progressbar or refreshing the whole page. I wish that the player at least would detect such problems and automatically reconnect, preferably before the video even lags . I can confirm that the same thing happens to me whenever the lag starts. So far what I've been doing with tech support hasn't helped. I suspected it might be doing this but after seeing your post I kept an eye on network activity via activity monitor while watching blast of tempest. When everything is fine I'm getting around about 1 MB/sec but when the lag starts or it stops playing completely this drops down to a few bytes/sec or sometimes even 0! (until I jumpstart it again that is). I don't know what's going on but I don't think swapping DNS servers or changing host files to use specific servers is going to help. |

Changing my DNS to open DNS helped, though.
At least until now. |

ive done everything all the support in the forums say to do and changing my DNS info has helped with other sites like youtube to steam a bit faster but CR is still lagging its completely random and just stops buffering until i hit refresh on in IE/FF/chrome often resulting in restarting the video at the beginning.

I've been getting this problem for the last couple days with watching videos from this site. The video gets patchy, but the video does not lag. After what seems to be a random amount of time up to 9 minutes the screen goes blank, the audio continues to play, and I lose control of the computer at this point save for turning it off. Sometimes the screen returns to its normal state and sometimes it does not. When it does it only takes about 5-20 seconds. After it returns to the normal state for the computer, an error message appears at the bottom saying "Nvlddmkm - Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered." The video displayed on the site in the window, however, is entirely snotty green. The rest of the content on the page appears normal. Only the video is affected. The audio stops, too. Doing a refresh starts the video feed again.
I've read on forums this is because of power supplies and non-compliance of graphics card companies and non-compliance of Microsoft and non-compliance of manufacturers, etc., being a whole mess where everyone is held responsible. It is odd, though, that I have been able to watch streaming videos on youtube, and I am also able to play World of Warcraft without issues of this happening. There's obviously been a change. The admins are asking if people are having trouble viewing the videos. After messing with drivers, reinstalling adobe flash, air, graphics card settings, changed themes and appearances, and going crazy, I decided to try Google Chrome as the web browser for playback on the site. It seems to work okay with Chrome.
So, for now, it seems to be a browser issue. I'm running Firefox 17.0.1. I had the same issue with Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421. I don't know why it works in Chrome and not the other 2. I am now curious to how other browsers hold up. |

It's Adobe Flash Player 11. Aside from specific version numbers, I don't think I have a clue.

I get this often on my desktop, usually while playing a game or watching Hulu. I haven't had this happen while on CR, but I watch CR mainly on my laptop which has a different video card. Microsoft created a KB page for this to help troubleshoot and solve this problem. You can try to different solutions at this page to see if it corrects the problem for you. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946 |

You guys at CR really need to fix this. I pay for premium and yet I have to refresh the webpage constantly because of sudden video playback stops. Its terrible and its been happening for quite some time. Also some videos for whatever reason stop and act as if i watched the entire video and does a count down til it brings me to the next video already when im clearly only around halfway done. I dont have a problem with any other video playback websites but this one. When is this issue going to be fixed? I only love watching anime and this is stressing me out so much that I cant watch it because your video player is broken.

Two days ago I noticed that videos no longer work. I get to the page and it quickly loads the 'preview' image and then goes black. The time in the video player displays as "--:-- / --:--". I usually watch in 480P, but changing quality yields the same result.
Chrome: Version 23.0.1271.97 m Flash: 11,5,31,5 Some of the videos(anime) I have previously watched load, while others do not. ie: loads: http://www.crunchyroll.com/magi/episode-8-a-promise-that-cant-be-kept-612251 doesn't load: http://www.crunchyroll.com/magi/episode-5-dungeon-capturer-612245 I've cleared my browser cache, and have cleared Flash cache as well. To further test, I tried to watch videos on Firefox as well. I barely use FF so I didn't even have Flash installed. Firefox: 12.0 Flash: 11,5,502,135 again, videos still wont properly load. Drama videos load the ad at the start of the video, but the video wont load. Here is a nslookup, ping, and tracert.
