Are you a middle child?
Posted 3/31/12
Yes, I am the middle. My older bro is 7 years, 5 months older, and I have a sis of fifteen minuites younger than me. But, I'm not treated any differently. The older bro is married for 34 years, and the sis is married 11 years. I am a lifelong single.

My older brother used to beat the crap outta me and if my little brother did something stupid and I said anything at all my older brother would defend my little brother by beating the crap outta me. Yeah, it sucked being the middle brother.

20 years later.
Older brother: 5'10", balding, out of shape (not necessarily fat, getting there though), unemployed, but paid to be a house sitter by his wife's successful step father. Has two kids just like him and he's catching hell because of it. I can go on but I'll leave it at that.

Little brother: 5'9" has less hair than my older brother, obese, fired from four different jobs in his 20s and is 31 years old now. Hasn't held one of those four jobs more than 18 months. Spends all of his free time playing with his x-box 360 all day and has no work experience. I can go on but I'll leave it at that.

Me (middle brother): 6'4" have all of my hair, am pretty heavy but have been losing it steadily of the last couple of years. Worked at the same job for twelve years earning 27 paid days off a year plus what carries over the previous year (this year that's 4 days for 31 days off this year). I build projects out of wood including a desk and a couple of cabinets that can be seen under my pics. I also have a degree in the computer sciences, my bros? High school at best. I'm not satisfied with where I am now, but with a little work I'll go that much further while they can laze around with no retirement to speak of.

I'm the middle child and only son of three. Whenever anything happens in our family I'm usually the last one to find out. And that sucks

I am a middle child too. sigh.

I don't care how old you get, you are never too old for "middle child syndrome". (Take my word for it, I just turned 30) Anyhoo, I believe that the middle child can: start the trouble, get out of the trouble and somehow blame the others. Or at least take them down too.

I feel that... They look for your older or younger sibs first before you are mentioned (or even mentioned at all) hahaha... And sometimes that hurts a lot. I recently had this experience of being forgotten. I was supposed to go out together with my mom and older sister, so before leaving I went to the washroom, but when I went out they were gone... they completely forgot that I was going out with them... My mom only remembered that they forgot about me when she was in her office signing papers... and my sister didn't even notice that they forgot about me... such incidents of being forgotten hurts especially to middle children who are, very sensitive, which I presume every middle child is.

It seems that middle children have this cloak of invisibility sometimes. Because in certain crowds people you know don't see you and only see your older or younger sibs...

uhhhmm to tell ya, i think being the oldest has a lot of responsibility.. like we always do the chores while the younger ones play and do other things... plus, parents have high expectations with the oldest child. we have to maintain high grades despite the pressures...

I'm the oldest of six. Yes, it's true, the oldest are always the most tormented and the youngest are always the spoiled. Generally speaking.

Yep. Well, right now my older siblings are in college so I'm treated as the older sibling. A lot of responsibility is placed on me. But when we're all together, I'm just sort of ignored. I don't mind being the middle child.
