in YOUR opinion:
what anime are classic cant live with out?
this is not a i reccomend this thread this is an honest question to debate i really wanna know what the people at CR think.

ill start Ranma 1/2 was a classic because its funny its got gender/species chaning people something is always going on i never really ran into an episode that was there just to fill a 30 min block.

Azumanga Daioh - One of -- if not THE best comedy-based anime. For girls and boys, and it's created by a pervert! Kiyohiko Azuma everyone! *claps*

Rozen Maiden(series) - My opinion of the best anime ever, and if more than five people would take the damn time to watch it they'd probably see what I mean, when I say IT IS THE BEST.

I wholeheartedly agree on both counts (I just finished Azumanga maybe 5 minutes ago). I finished watch Traumend maybe a week ago and I haven't been more satisfied with an anime series since trigun.

Also Hokuto no Ken. If you haven't seen the ORIGINAL you should just stop watching anime all together, it's classic goodness and Kenshiro is the orignial badass. (He would take on entire ninja villages and no one could stop him mwa haha)

Revolutionary Girl Utena. Old style, interesting plot. A character that sleeps with almost every other character in the show. Shounen-ai, Shoujo-ai. Revolution, transformations. Sword battles and french duelist uniforms. I first watched it on sci-fi when they used to play anime on saturdays. aaahh the memories!

Neon Genesis Evangelion. In 1995 this show set the bar for all other Mecha/supernatural animes. Having one of the most twisted plotlines ever this show will forever be on my personal top 10. With deeply developed characters and a unique storytelling style, every anime fan should watch this series at least once.

Magic Knights Rayearth. Old-school. Magic fused with Mecha. Also set the bar for its contemporaries.

Hmm. . .I really was addicted to Macross and sakura wars. . .Those two came into my mind when I think of classics because of the develop epics. . .
The next thing that i think I can't live without ever watching again is probably ninja scroll and all the samurai stuff. . .those are what got me into anime in the first place. . .there is also a lot more but laterz. . .

He said the absolute classics. And it goes a little some thing like this> EVA / Akira / Perfect blue / Cowboy bebop / grave of the fire flies / Fooly cooly / Elfin lied / and Trigun.

oh, well..
Berserk - i think the elements stressed in it besides violence were of great importance. Griffith was willing to sacrifice all his comrades to reach his dream of gaining entry to 'the castle' and the road he paved was made up human sacrifice. His desire was so strong that he even gave up his life to becomes reborn as Femto, a member of the God Hand. On top of that, I like the love aspect between Gutz and Caska

Trigun - I admire how the protagonist is in a constant struggle to resist violence, and i like his message of 'love and peace', and the way he pays for his atonement of leveling entire citites.

KGNE - its just too sad to describe why its great; it evokes many emotions that previous to, most romance anime had not dealt with in the best manner

Evangelion - its just a deep introspective series, and i like how anno play's off judeo-christian mythology in the themes and symbols within the series. Plus, the first time i saw it, i was surprised as i thought it would be more akin to gundam.

Escaflowne - I just love the story of travelling away to another world, and all the adventure which ensues. It was a good mix of action and romance.

FMP - action, comedy, romance in a perect blend

that's all i can think of right now..
